Weight gain NIGHTMARE

Okay, so I know this is all totally my fault, but I just feel the need to share my horror with my fellow November brides.  I'm an 11/2 bride - that means I'm getting married in a little less than four weeks.  Soooo . . . three weeks ago I had my final fitting.  Then I went to a conference for work, and then had a pretty stressful work week.  Then I went away this weekend for a bachelorette weekend.  

So, in the three weeks since my *final* fitting . . . I HAVE GAINED 11 POUNDS!!!!  

I'm seriously hoping that it's mainly water weight . . . at least like five pounds.  Right?  Right?!?!?!?!

So now I'm chugging water and not eating anything except Nutrisystem and lettuce for the next 25 days.  What if my dress doesn't fit?!?!

  • Drink half your body weight in ounces of water every day.  Cut carbs and gluten.   Get up and move, take a long power walk every day, stand to watch TV, etc.  Go buy a pedometer so you can monitor your step count.   Can you tolerate doing some hot yoga classes?  Because you'll sweat off some pounds even if you don't do much other than just lay on your mat. There is also a recipe out there for Jillian Michael's water weight flush that is pretty effective for 3-4 pounds.

    Deep breaths. You can do this. 

    I'm also 11/2 and am walking a fine line with my weight.  My dress is fitted so I can't gain weight.  I also can't lose more than 1-2 pounds or it will just hang off my butt and hips and not look right. 

  • Thanks, @WonderRed.  I know I can get it off - I mean, I put it on in three weeks, and I don't really have any other choice, right?  I'm on my third liter of water today and I'm planning on going for a run tonight.  I just can't believe it . . . 11 lbs.  That's like . . . it's like my worst nightmare come true.  

    *sigh*  That's okay - this chunky girl is gonna get back on the wagon and lose this weight.  I've lost 11 lbs in a week before, so if I have to go drastic I know I can do it.
  • Don't over stress yourself. I agree with PP that you need to drink tons of water and cut carbs and I bet you will easily lose the weight. Lots of lean protein and veggies. 

    When I started South Beach Diet, I lost 8lbs in my first two weeks from cutting the sugar and carbs and exercising 3 times a week using Jillian Michaels videos. Her Shred video is great and it's only 20 minutes, so it's pretty easy to convince yourself to do. Or go on longer walks, swim, do a zumba class. Just cutting out junk and doing a little extra exercise will make the difference. 


  • Swimming will DEFINITELY make you lose some weight... you'll work out muscles you never knew you had! (Well, that's what *I* discovered the other day... ouch! LOL)

    I'm stressing about my weight, too.. I lost weight in my waist (yay!) but it all went to my bust (boo...) I'm so scared that I'm going to have that "access overflow" and people are going to notice and be like "Ugh, look at the bride." that's my biggest fear.
