My Tuesday sucks

Sometimes I just can't stand my coworkers.

I have one coworker who came in right as he was supposed to have been clocked in.  He proceeded to pick up his drink that he called in ahead of time, go out , give it to whoever gives him a ride, come back in, and get in line to pay for it!  The line is 6 people deep with multiple drinks per order and he's standing around in line like he has all the time in the world!  Instead of ringing it up later, he makes my other coworker and I run around like chickens with our heads cut off.  He then takes his sweet time clocking in.

Then a short while later, he leaves drinks partially made to go get ice! I'm bouncing back and forth between bars to make up for where he left off!  Needless to say the huge pile of dishes I was working on didn't get done because he was lollygagging around and not doing any serious work!

I'm still sick.  Nausea and headaches abound, as well as the stupid pain nearly everywhere from my lower back down.  I look like a freak because now I have some odd swelling from my hips to my waist.  No doctor until Thursday when I get paid.

Re: My Tuesday sucks

  • Crappy co-workers are the worst! My co-workers have been better this semester but last semester I wanted to strangle some of them!

Have you had swelling like that before? It sounds sucky! My eye used to randomly swell up, it hasn't in awhile but it was irritating!

  • Ugh, I'm sorry your co-worker was being such a brat. I get that it's hard to be excited to go to work, but damn, you better act like you're grateful to have your job or someone else will. Is he usually like that or was he just having a day?

As long as we're complaining about co-workers, I would like to chime in about mine. This fairly new co-worker of mine and I get along pretty well, but I literally cringed today when I heard how she was speaking to one of our patients. He was confused and had been pressing his call bell and trying to get out of bed, and she was just extremely impatient with him! Not downright mean or abusive or anything, but definitely giving off a tone of voice, some facial expressions, etc. that I'm sure he saw and picked up on. He was driving me crazy too, but damn, just take a breath, smile, and make an effort to be nice. I can't believe that some people can be so unsympathetic and still end up in this line of work.
  • @Amapola14 - I've come across some pretty crappy nurses but it just makes me appreciate the good ones even more! A few years ago I was hospitalized for a week and I still remember my nurse from the first day because she was completely amazing! The rest of my nurses that week, not so much.

That hospital did an exit interview with their patients about how their experience was. I made sure to comment on how much I loved Lois (see I still remember her name!).

  • Eeek I'm sorry about the irritating coworkers.

I have some pretty annoying ones myself. They talk so much crap about everyone they work with and are the complete opposite to their face. I'm glad I don't have to interact with them much since I'm in a different line of work than them (I'm recruiting they're contract management) but I hear all their gossiping and it drives me insane! Then when our boss comes by it's like they are the nicest people in the world, they suck up so much and then they talk crap about him when he leaves.
  • He used to be a decent coworker, but lately he comes in late and he does half-butt work and just all around sucks.  I mean, I understand it's not a great job and we're slaves to minimum wage, but for heaven's sake make an effort!  There are others out there who want a job and would be  more than glad to take his place.  It's not like our work is that hard either.
