Picking bridesmaids

I am torn between picking my bridesmaids. Everyone said you should pick the friends you grew up with but I haven't seen these girls in years and haven't been the greatest of friends to me since being with my fiancé. And I want to consider the girls I work with everyday who I am close with. I hang out with the girls from work quite a bit and haven't seen my childhood friends in years due to distance and different lives. I just don't want to look back and regret this decision. My childhood friends knew me then but my work friends know me now. I have my 2 sisters as maids of honor and want a few more bridesmaids but am having the hardest time picking what route to take!!! Any advice is much appreciated!!

Nobody has said you should choose girls you grew up with.  My girls I've known 4, 3, 3 and 3 years.  In the words of Addie, I'd totally hide a body with all of them.  Those from my childhood are crappy friends at this point because we've grown apart.  One of my BMs was a coworker.  Coworkers can turn into wonderful friends given the time spent together daily.

I've never heard of picking the friends you grew up with. I've always heard picking the people you're closest to. Just pick the friends you feel the closest to and who you'd feel comfortable having stand up there with you as you get married. Don't make it more complicated than it needs to be!
