How would you coordinate girls in different states?

I'm still working on my colors, but will need a pretty exact color match for everything with either option (ie, sage, not mint, or navy, not royal, etc). All three of my girls live in different states. I won't get two of them in the same state till spring, and then one will be temporarily unemployed and low on funds, plus we'd be down to the wire. They are different body types, have different taste, and none of us are in the habit of wearing dresses often. I know everybody says not to order online, but really, how else do you do this?

Re: How would you coordinate girls in different states?

  • Watters, Dessy, Alfred Angelo, David's Bridal, JCrew, Ann Taylor.

All are national, easily accessible chains. Pick the color, brand, and fabric you want. Let them pick a style. They could even buy the dress used on Ebay if they wanted to and you'd never know the difference.

I've had experience with Watters, DB, and JCrew recently. All worked out just fine.
  • Agreed- pick a store chain that is located in many places. Choose a designer (if more than one is available), pick a length and a colour, then let them choose whatever dress they like in their budget.

I am in a similar situation, WP is in all different places. I chose to go with David's Bridal as there are so many different locations and they are one of the cheapest with the most variety compared to other nation-wide dress stores. I then chose a colour and length and then told my BMs to have at it and pick what they want.
  • I had a similar situation with my BMs. We did Ann Taylor. I told them Navy, knee length and silk georgette. They got whatever they wanted outside that. AT often has 40% off sales so if you decide on that early on, they can wait for one. Stuff ships in less than a week.

  • David's Bridal is pretty much everywhere and has frequent sales.  Also, your BMs could find a used DB dress online or something if money is an issue.

  • I have cleared the DB route with my BM's.  They are literally spread acorss the country, 4 in 3 states.  Plus, it was one of the few stores with a location that wasn't too far away from an of them. They are also all different shapes and sizes, with a different budget, so I didn't want to pick out anything too specific or fancy.  I jst asked them to get a certain color and fabric with an approximate length and I'm letting them chose any style they want.  I knew this way they would be able to find something they were comfortable in and could afford.

  • I have the same situation. One of my girls lives in Florida, one lives in Alabama and moving to GA, and the rest live in Louisiana. Unfortunately, I went the David's bridal route for both the cheap factor and the amount of locations they have. It was the only store that was in every location I needed it.
  • Target also sells BM dresses online for under $100, yes they would have to deal with shipping to get it, but returns can be done easily at the store. If you go to a bridal shop, once ordered online, you usually can't return it.

  • I picked David's Bridal for all the dresses including my own, and Men's Warehouse for the suits. We (future hubby and I) decided on the attire, researched what locations in what cities had our choices and then sent our wedding party the info. We even asked if they could take pictures so that we can see the outfit on them. Our WP is everywhere. I have BM's in Kentucky, Delaware, and Georgia. JBM's in Kentucky and Tennessee. GM in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Georgia. Ushers, FG's, and RB in all those states too. Not to mention the parents. That in its self has been a hand full.
  • My 2 bridesmaids are in Michigan & Florida. And I live in Arizona. I sent my BMs samples of the ribbon we are using for decoration and told them to try to match that color as close as possible. Any style they want. I don't really care if it matches exactly to the color or if styles don't match. I care more that they are getting a price and dress that they are comfortable with and might actually wear again. Although, it sounds like they have been talking and actually plan to coordinate & get sand dress from David's Bridal anyway.
