Picnic food menu suggestions?

We are having a casual barn wedding. Thinking something-chicken-sandwich as the main part! We have some picky veggie haters in my family, so we have to please them too! Also lots of little kiddos who need sides that aren't too messy and that are easy finger foods. Not wanting to go heavy (nothing fried) either! Ideas?

Only ideas I have so far..
ambrosia salad
cucumber tomato salad

Have nixed corn on the cob (getting stuck in teeth) & baked beans (messy).

Thanks!
Sarah

Hmmmmmm. Thanks for all the suggestions!

    I think we're going with:
    Grilled chicken sandwiches
    Broccoli salad or Feta/cranberry/pecan salad
    Ambrosia salad
Au gratin potatoes or potato salad

I want to keep it relatively light. Dinner will be around 5, and I'm thinking of serving some bar style foods later in the night- maybe grilled ham&cheese pretzel bun sliders. yum :)

Macaroni salad or Au Gratin potatoes - which sounds best?

  • Just ran everything by the fiance and we've made changes already :)

    Grilled chicken & ham paninis
    Au Gratin potatoes
    Regular fruit salad
    Candied pecan & cranberry salad

    Less mess, more kid friendly
