What type of wedding dress did you choose?

Hello!
Im getting married at Merrimans next May. I've always dreamed i'd wear a lace wedding gown for my wedding and last weekend i found the perfect one!! My only concern is its not "beachy" at all. Might even be a little too dressy. What type of wedding dress did you all choose for you maui weddings? If any one wants to share pictures that would be great! I hope im just overthinking this....

Mine wasn't beachy at all....it was more formal than I was originally thinking but I figured I'm only getting married once so better have the dress of my dreams! I did end up taking some of the poof out of the bottom though so it wouldn't be so big. It looked great!

I haven't picked my dress yet, it is either going to be Chantilly (Sottero & Midgley) or the SaBelle (Maggie) they both have lace and aren't beachy at all. I think you should wear whatever dress you love no matter where your wedding is. :-)

I was the same way... I wanted a lace dress but at the same time wanted something with that beachy feel. I tried on many dresses and none ( both lace and not lace) gave me that beachy feel until I found the one! I thought my mom wasn't going to like it when she saw it because it's kind of plain, but as soon as she saw it on me and saw me walk in it....she said yep, that's the one! When I walk in it, I feel like I'm already on the beach , it just flows but is fitted and still wedding like. Loveeeee it! Just try on dresses with an open mind, when it's the right one you'll know...kinda like finding a husband

Getting married in Oahu, not Maui, but here is my dress. It is mostly lace. Easy travel and care coming from South Carolina.

I'm not married yet so don't know how it'll end up working out but I got a lace mermaid for the ceremony with a bit of a train and a Jenny packham dress for the reception. They are both light but the ceremony one is more traditional and the reception one is more party and easier to dance in. My dress was technically a ball gown but the skirt had layers of silk organza so it was fairly light. We were married at the Grand Hyatt in Kauai so I felt that it fit the venue. It did get a little warm towards the end of pictures. Here's a couple of pics:

I wore a silk dupioni Marisa style number 793. It was so light and comfortable, I didn't want to take it off. We bustled it up for the more formal at-home reception.

Mine was not beachy either. It was a satin mermaid dress.

BTW - Merriman's is beautiful and their food is amazing! I don't think you would be too dressy wearing a lace dress there.

Mine was raw Italian silk - super light and super breathable.

As you can see, it also moved really well!

Mine was simple but not at all beachy either. It was from Alfred Angelo and I absolutely loved it. Not at all hot and uncomfortable.

My dress is the ribboned silk gown from BHLDN. It is light and perfect for my sunrise beach wedding and evening reception.

I'm getting married on Kauai, but I had the same thoughts as you. My dress is not beachy either (it's a-line/almost ballgown-like). However, it's the only dress for me and I still can't stop thinking about it :-) If your dress "speaks" to you, that's all that matters!
