Good morning ladies! In light of the earlier conversations about birth control, I thought I'd share a little bit more about NFP. FI and I have been researching options and a mentor/friend of mine from HS is now working at a fertility care center in my town that uses NFP, or the Creighton Model. I asked her to write up a little something about NFP to clear up any misconceptions as you go through the process of determining what is right for you and your hubby to be. Please keep in mind that I comptelely understand that what you choose to do for BC is a personal choice, and none of my business, but I know there are a lot of questions out there and there isn't a whole lot of information (and accurate information!!) regarding NFP. While NFP is generally seen as a Catholic thing, and Suzy tells her information from a Catholic standpoint, it really can apply to anybody, regardless of religion. The trickiest issue is that some believe that BCP can cause abortions, depending on your viewpoint on what constitutes an abortion. Please do not think I'm judging anyone. It's just information that I want to put out there so you may have more information about this concept. If you are interested in contacting her with any questions or to have her help you find someone in your area, please PM me and I will give you her email address. You may also go to the Michiana Care Center website and contact her through there. I just don't want to have lots of random people emailing her :-)
From Suzy:
Hey ladies!
I wanted to let you know about a great form of Family Planning. It’s called the Creighton Model FertilityCare System and it is the best of all worlds. It is natural (no chemicals being put into your body) and it is AS or MORE effective than any type of contraception (99.5% perfect use effectiveness) in preventing pregnancy. PCOS? Endometriosis? PMS? Ovarian cysts? Irregular cycles? No problem…this is the perfect solution. It not only is effective at avoiding pregnancy, but it also works in tandem with NaPro Technology to help identify any health issues and treat them. For those trying to achieve a pregnancy NaPro Technology, it is nearly 3 times more effective than IVF or any other artificial reproductive technologies in achieving pregnancy (without creating life outside of the marital act or resulting in extra embryos to freeze or destroy).
The Creighton Model is highly scientific with over 30 years of research behind it. There are doctors throughout the world trained in assisting women who use this method and it is acceptable to people of all faiths. The Center I work in has a website you might find helpful: http://www.facebook.com/l/41446bFGR7kZXwyqJpOowhWG3QA/www.fccmichiana.org and you can also locate a teacher and/or doctor near you at http://www.facebook.com/l/41446z2UBX8wWq9y_rMQWTeL5iQ/www.fertilitycare.org
The other truth that I think we need to know (especially as Christians) is that the Pill can act as an abortifacient. If we are on the Pill, we could conceive a baby and abort it without knowing. The Pill has four mechanisms. 1) prevent ovulation 2) change/thicken cervical mucus so that sperm cannot reach the egg 3) restrict the transport of the ovum and sperm and 4) prevent implantation in the uterus. That means, that if a woman does ovulate while on the Pill (which happens about 10% of the time) and the sperm does meet the egg, a new unique life is conceived which could then either get stuck in the fallopian tubes (ectopic pregnancy) or cannot implant in the uterus because the uterine lining is made inhospitable by the Pill. So without knowing it, a married couple could be conceiving children and aborting them without knowing it, depending on when you consider the start of a new life. If you want more information in this you can check out: http://www.facebook.com/l/41446Wo4lmhvcBF3XUhlZr_N4vw/www.28daysonthepill.com/ (this website is not affiliated with the Creighton Model).
Additionally, did you know that the risk of miscarriage post-Pill is really high for several months after discontinuing use? Also, by tracking, your body is able to tell you what is going on inside of it. Tracking can help doctors diagnose problems with your reproduction system. BCP merely covers them up. These are some of the reasons that many people, Christians, and non Christians alike are using or researching the Creighton Model FertilityCare System. It is all natural, and tailored to our specific situation. You have a teacher that will work one-on-one with you to teach and support you. I hope you’ll check out the websites I’ve listed to learn more!
Blessings to you all! Suzy
