Destination Vow Renewal!

My husband and I have found a new love in Cruising,we are taking our parents on a cruise to Bermuda in June & it has got me thinking about a Destination vow renewal with a little cake & punch ceremony after  for our 5 yr anniversary in 2014.I am thinking about it now bc i want to pay for it on my own without using our savings money  & i want it to be a total suprise for him and i would have to start saving now to be able to do it on my own .I want to suprise my Hubby by asking his boss to allow him to take the vac time & packing his suit case for him and telling him we are taking a family trip to spend the day in NYC until we actually pull up to port & he sees the boat,he then would know about the cruise but not the Vow renewal until our actual anniversary.I am going to ask both our families to join us as well as his Best friend who was the best man at our real ceremony.

What do you guy's think?and has anyone done a destination wedding?
im curious to see how to book everything.I wouldnt mind having the "reception" in a room on the boat but i would like the renewal to be on an Island.

That sounds like a great idea! Such a sweet surprise!

(Sorry that I have no advice about planning)

Most cruise lines are affiliated with companies that handle weddings - for a small fee - so I'm sure they could arrange something for you. Back in the day when I was a travel agent, something like that would cost between $400 and $600 - but that was many years ago.

I know NCL does this.  Fi and I cruised to Bermuda last year; it was beautiful.

We took a tour with a woman who offered sunrise horseback rides on the beach (not through the cruise line).  That may be a romantic backdrop for your vow renewal).

Have fun planning; sounds like a beautiful idea!

You are going to have such a blast!  Let me know if you need any Bermuda info; I did a ton of research before I went and have lots of pics.  Check out Jobson's Cove if you want to do the renewal on a beach. I wasn't impressed with Tobacco Bay Beach; it was jagged and a lot of construction was going on (though it might be ok by now). There are actually a ton of nooks and crannies on the beaches there that would be great.
