Bridal Shower Registry Question Part II (kinda long)

Mrsdoris2b asked this question earlier and I just wanted to piggyback on it.  My FMIL and FSIL/Bridesmaid are throwing me a shower (YAY!  I was feeling so unloved at first, I'm glad to know that they like me...they really, really like me! :)  So, this is a two part question.

Question 1
First, my mom and aunt are also planning a shower for me (YAY!!!) because most of my family members live in Florida and California and can't afford to travel to NC for my wedding and my shower so my mom and aunt are having a wedding shower the day before the wedding since most of my family members will already be in town.  My FMIL made the point that if I have a bridal shower too close to the wedding people will buy gifts for one or the other.  My aunt suggested that I send invitations to my family members to both showers so that they can attend the one that my mom is throwing when they are in town and send a gift to the shower my FMIL is throwing.  Does that seem weird or tacky?  For those of you that are having your wedding/shower in a state that's not your home state, how did you or plan to handle this if you haven't had a shower yet?  Also, do you invite to the bridal shower?  Is it just the family and bridal party?

Question 2
What types of things are you registering for (this is more closely related to MrsDoris2b's question). I read the responses in her post and completely understand why many of you would not want to register for lingerie.  I definately do not want to do that because that is such a personal intimate thing.  So, with that said, what are you registering for?  TIA

Hey TamTam...See we all told you not to worry...now look at you!!! Congratulations.

Your FMIL and Aunt has a valid point.  Ummmm I really don't have any good ideas on how to handle this, but for some reason I thinking a joint invitation would be great if they got all the dates, times and location decided on.  This way you want confuse them (OOT guest), because it's so close to your wedding date.  Can your Mother and Aunt let them know that you'll prefer gifts for the first shower; however, their attendance is only requested at the second on.

Will your shower be done before or after your rehearsal dinner?

I did not register for any personal intimate things either, but I believe my shower hosted by my BP later this summer will be.

Thanks PB Bride!  The bridal shower that my mom and aunt is having will be before the rehearsal dinner.  It will be that Friday afternoon.  So, what did you register for for your shower, or did you?

That's great you'll have so much fun.  When is your first shower and have you register yet?

We registered for a lot of household items and gift cards (price ranged from $250-$25) at Dillards, JC Penney's and Target.  I still need to added a few other things on there, so hopefully I will get that done soon.

Some of our items include Deep Fryer, Grddler, a lot of the Calphalon cookware,  server stuff so when we host parties, and towels, sheets and bedding.  We are in the early stage of looking at houses, so we'll want everything new when we move.

The first shower is the first weekend in June (I think)....June 5th.  In terms of if I'm registered, that's part two of this question, I'm trying to get ideas of what to register for.  We have a wedding registry, but I was under the impression that for the bridal shower there should be a separate registry, but it looks like you're registering for the same kind of household items that I have registered for for our wedding.  I wonder if that's what others are doing.  So did you not create a separate registry for the shower?

If your shower is on June 5th....We will be little shower twins.  HaHa

Yesterday, was devote to look for something to wear and I struck out badly.  I'm a quick shopper either I see it or I don't, so now I don't know what to wear.  I read in a below post that you found your shower dress.  I wish I was that lucky.  What color are you wearing?  I'm looking at either white or ivory, but I still have time to order something online I guess.

I didn't do a separate registry for the shower; however if my bridal party gives me a intimate one I will registered for that one.

That's way in my pp I stated I need to add a few more things on there, because when we registered we did't put enough on there to cover the showers and wedding.

Whoo-hoo we are shower twins!  I think that it is June 5th 'cause that's Saturday, right?  She was deciding between two dates the other was May 22nd.  I asked that she push it back to to give herself more planning time.  I kinda hate that I did that because I need to visit with the minsiter and FI only has that weekend off before the wedding, so I'm not sure what to do.

I did find my shower dress...YAY!  It is a blue and white print.  Here is a link:
    http://www.anntaylorloft.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=25320&N=1200007&pCategoryId=3359&categoryId=211&Ns=CATEGORY_SEQ_211&loc=TN&defaultColor=Midnight%20Navy&defaultSizeType=Regular
I'm in the process of looking for shoes and jewelry.  I love to shop but it can be frustrating when you are looking for something specific, so I know what you mean.  My plan is to shop around online first and then go to the stores and check it out.  You might want to try that approach to see if that helps.

So, you will just add items for yourself on the registry that you are creating for your wedding instead of creating a separate registry.  And are you and FI having a shower together?  I really just need clothes and shoes because since I've been planning for the wedding, I haven't had money to buy clothes for myself, and I've gained a little bit of weight so my clothes don't fit as well anymore.  So, I would love it if people got me gift cards from TJMAXX and Marhsall's.
