Name Change Question

I am off of work on the 20th. We leave for vacation on the 25th. Could I go to the DMV and SSA to change my name on the 20th....and use my passport for travel and get the passport changed later? Or should I just wait until later after the honeymoon and get it all done? I would imagine I only need my license to show ID to check into the hotel since I reserved it?

    As long as your passport name matches your airline tickets, you should be fine.

    As far as the hotel goes, I would say wait until you get back from the HM to change your DL, just to be safe. Because if it's booked under your maiden name, and you get a temp. DL in your married name, that may cause a problem. Especially if the credit card you use to book the room has your maiden name still. But, I could be wrong. Not sure on that one.

    Just to be safe, I would wait.

    When I changed my DL, they cut off the top, and left me with my old license.  They then gave me a temp with my new name and picture.  With both of those, you should not have a problem.  I'm going to change my passport later this week, so I'm not sure how that works.
