Hey Ashlee, have you let us know where you're getting married?  I couldn't remember if you had mentioned it.  Only if you feel comfortable sharing, of course.

I was actually just wondering that myself! :-)

    i havent :)

but i think we're deciding on The Colony's Tribute. It's the cheapest place we can find so far that is pretty much in the middle of all our family. We will most likely be doing it on a Friday, as the male portion of my family has off every other friday. And that way those out of town people coming can stay at my parents house over the weekend :) And it's still close enough to where alot of people considered "out of town" can still drive home same day if needed. Plus it provides a free night stay for me and the FI...and two prep rooms available for a good 4 hours prior to the ceremony :)

We've looked in Denton, and Mckinney, along with Garland and a few other places...but it's just WAY out of our budget...or in our budget and stupid...like $600 for a dance floor, and cake cutting service is $2-$3 a slice...

Oh, nice!  Lauren (llc) is getting married there in April (I'm pretty sure) so you'll get to see a Knottie wedding there before yours (if I know what I'm talking about that is).

oh how exciting! that would be awesome! we haven't signed a contract yet, i'm working with their coordinator...however i'm still on the lookout for ANYTHING cheaper...which...i haven't found.

and anything i have found, provides NOTHING...lol...so adding even minimal decor, would balance it out to the same price...it almost seems worth just letting someone else do it. plus alot of places have "Extra" stuff that neither my FI and i want...which would be great...but they dont lower the price really to take it out.

Oh yeah, I agree--having some things included is just so much nicer and well worth the cost and the stress you would have doing it yourself.  I know some girls like the DIY route--I'm not one of them though  :)

And I was right--Lauren is getting married there according to the vendor sticky.  I'm sure she'd be happy to answer any questions you might have.

    The Tribute is beautiful!

In case you still want options, I got married at El Dorado Country Club in McKinney on a Friday and TONS of things were included.   Ivory chair covers, an iron arch for the ceremony, black or ivory linens and napkins, hurricane candle centerpieces, cake stand, the giant (and reallly nice) 'locker' rooms for Guys and Girls were available the whole day, all of my stuff was set up for us by the coordinator and staff.   Also there was no room charge, only a food and beverage minimum.  It was great!

    Good Luck! :)

Yeah, i like that they set up everything in the price wrapped in to the venue price, some places i've seen will charge like $2 a chair after 50 chairs...charge you for linens and place settings...i mean..stuff that you really wouldn't think would have a charge on it...i'm like...okay i'm paying you $2000 but your going to charge me $250 for chairs?

the decor here is REALLY minimal...they do table linens, place settings, really small center pieces, and chairs...anything else is extra.

which i mean, it's really simple...but the colors of the chairs match the carpet and curtains in the ball room, so i really dont need chair covers or chair sashes...the center pieces are really "simple" as well lol. it's a mirror with a glass vase and candle in it....so i think what we'll do is put water in the vase and a tea light candle instead...then add our colors in napkins and maybe something else small around the vase...just so it doesnt look so bare...but they dont charge you to bring in your own stuff...which alot of places do...so i think it'll turn out great :) it's not going to be "extravagant" but i'm okay with that...we'll make it look really nice...and we'll have a good time...and i think that's what matters :)

wow tiffany that's gorgeous! I don't see any prices on their website? i'll shoot them an email though! :)

i REALLY love the tribute...but we're still up for a new venue if it's in our budget

The minimum for a Friday or Saturday afternoon when I booked was $3500 I think, and $8500 for Saturday evening.

If you want more details just email me. Tiffany618@aol.com.    My wedding photos are still available on our photographers blog and I can tell you what we paid and what food we got.

Tiffany's wedding was Beee-u-tiful.  Rose petals in your colors are good on the tables.  If you're crafty, wrapped votives are really pretty.  Renee (rcpm) did them and they were beautiful.  (I wanted to do them but I'm not crafty!)

  • edited December 2011

Haha, I phrased it wrong I think.   The minimum is the same for Friday Evening OR Saturday afternoon.

How did I find it?  Hmm.. I guess I've always known about it.  I grew up a little ways north of McKinney and it was always known as a nice members only country club.  A lot of people who had been to events there told me how great their food was, (and it is!!).   Probably 20% of the photos my photogs blogged were of food, haha.

Thanks Stephie! Mine totally didn't hold a candle to yours, though!

steph- i'm actually a very crafty person...not trying to brag...lol. like i said...grew up in the military...never spent more than 3 years in one place...so i spent alot of time doing arts and crafts with my mother. we're doing quiet a bit of DIY...on the cheap side....the decor to me...you kind of have to either have someone do it...or spend a little more than i'm wanting to...because with out enough decor...it looks REALLY cheap and sad :( lol. i was thinking of doing something paper...to stick on the tables..maybe paper flowers...maybe like this:

    http://womanofnotes.blogspot.com/2009/01/origami-flowers.html

but i haven't done a trial run in my colors yet...so i'm not sure if it'd look cheap/trashy or not lol

but i've looked into the flower petals too! my colors were inspired by tiger lily's, and i haven't found any flower petals that are for a good price that look decent...

and steph...i'm DEFINATLY going to check this place out :) thank you!

WhatEVER!  Your wedding blows anything on El Dorado's website away.  Ashlee, just go look at Tiffany's pictures.  The Tribute is really pretty too though.  I also like Paradise Cove in Grapevine.

If you do paper or wrapped votives be careful! We had a few catch fire because of the tape that was used was highly flammable or the flame got high and caught the paper. It looked great just be aware of what you're doing though.

yeah. i think if we did the paper flowers, there would just be 2 or 3 sprinkled around the table center pieces, to give the table some more "color". i will be weary of the candle light though! lol...luckily, the vases that the venue provides, are a good foot tall...HOPEFULLY we wont have that problem! :)
