  Although ours actually did say "formal invitation to follow" and people still thought it was the actual invite.  I guess there's no fixing stupid.

  Don't stress.  I didn't put "invitation to follow" on mine.  Everyone understood that they would be invited.

  I forgot to put "Formal invitation to follow" on mine when I designed them, but since I just sent mine out via email, I added it to the subject line.  If you're really worried about it, maybe you could add it somewhere to the envelope?

  Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married.   That shouldn't be an issue.  I've receive std and I don't remember if they said formal invite to follow of not.  I just marked the day on the calendar and went on my way.  Most ppl will know it's not an invitation.

  I agree. I think most people will understand that you are just giving them the heads up and will not be concerned about it. If you are sending them out in the next few months maybe when you see your family around the holidays just mention the STD and let them know that the invite will be in the mail closer to the wedding date.

  What do they look like? Any way to add another element that just says invitation to follow? Post a picture -- maybe someone can help figure out a good way to add it.

  I think I'll just leave it off. It doesn't even look like a formal invitation. I'll post a pic up later tonight but I think most people will understand it's not an invitation, and just a STD.
