Shapewear Recs??

I'm contemplating what to wear under my gown, and I would love some recommendations. The dress is an a-line made of organza and satin so it isn't as forgiving as a ballgown or a dress made of heavier material. I was planning on having cups sewn into my dress with high-waisted shapewear of some sort....or do I go with a bustier? Should I go with Spanx or is there a better (or more affordable) brand? Any input is appreciated!

I'm in the exact same boat! I'm having the cups built in, with spanx. I tried on my dress with a bustier, but the bottom showed because it was so form fitting. If it shows all, I would avoid the bustier. I say that now, but I'll let you know how it goes at my first fitting!

If you are considering Spanx, definitely try them on for a while before you decide. I didn't wear them, but they are hot as hell and I know I would have been a hot, sweaty, miserable mess trying to dance around in them in the summer.

On the positive side though, at least you can take them off, if you get too hot... As opposed to having something sewn into the dress.

I'm wearing a Long Line Bra from David's Bridal. I also have an strapless A-line dress with organza and I can't see it at all. Plus it makes me look slimmer and is completely stable versus a strapless bra.

You can try them on at David's without having purchased the dress there, but I'm not sure how happy they'd be if you brought a dress from another store to try it on with the bra. They might frown down upon that, but you could call and ask... I mean it IS still a sale for them. :P Good luck!
