Well I've seen people post about their jobs/promotions/sucky bosses, so I thought I would ask...what do you do? do you like your job? do you like your boss?

I wanna learn more about fellow knotties AND I also need some inspiration to figure out what I wanna do when I grow up

I am a Communications Specialist for a Top 3 vehicle manufacturer. I've been hired to implement a new Communication Operating System. Except for the d-bag coworker, I LOVE my job. It's exactly the type of thing I went to school for. Which is surprising because I didn't think I would find anything even related to a Com degree.

I am an admin for a vacuum cleaner company. I like my bosses and my job for the most part, but the few co-workers I have really bring me down sometimes. I am planning on quitting in the next year or two to become a SAHW / SAHM. I am incredibly lucky to have this job, and I get paid decent, but I really just want to be home.

I am the administrative secretary/office manager at a small church. Most of the time, I like my job, although there are some days that are really difficult here. We just did the funeral for a 21 year old who committed suicide. Days like that, it can be tough.

I'm an accountant for a public chemical manufacturer. I'm in the process of transitioning to a new position, where I'll be doing more public reporting (financial statements filed with the SEC). I think I'm going to like the new job; I love my new boss and reporting is what I really want to do.

I am finishing my Ph.D. in polymer science and engineering this summer, and then I'll be off to start my sweet R&D gig at a major tire company.

I'm an archivist (or historical records manager, if you want to get technical) and work in the personal office of a member of Congress. I basically go through old files and organize and label them and help my coworkers find any information they need. I went to school for history and this job is about as history related as I could hope for. I do like my job and my boss, although I do get lonely sometimes since it doesn't require much human interaction.

Sorry. I vented my most recent work-related nonsense in the Good morning thread. Right now, I am a legal assistant, but Friday is my last day.

Starting the 23rd, I'll be an intern at a prosecutor's office. While it's unpaid (in fact, I'm paying tuition to work for free, b/c I get credit for it), I'll actually be in the courtroom, and my supervisor says that I'll get to do bench trials and second chair jury trials and stuff in the misdemeanor section (once the proper license gets approved, that is). I'm really, REALLY excited about it.

I'm the Junior Financial Analyst for a microsoft certified company that specializes in ERP systems for the manufacturing industry.

I love my boss and like 99% of my coworkers and for the most part I really like my job. The times I don't love it is when my boss gets a "vision" for my career path in the company that I really don't agree with it annoys me. Especially if I try to talk to him about it and he says "just try it for a year and we'll talk about it then." Um, a year is a long time if you really don't want to do that.

Ultimately it's not what I want to do with the rest of my life, but I'm content here until I can figure out how to get where I want to be.

I'm the Director of Accounting at a university. My job is ok, my coworkers are mostly ok, and my boss is a little nuts. I'll be gone in the next 2 years, but not because I hate them. i've done about all I can do here and I am not qualified, nor do I have any interest in moving up to my boss's position. I want to move on and do other things. I'm staying for the maternity and family work/life balance that is amazing here.

I am an Assistant Director of Admissions at a for-profit applied arts school. I like my job as far as interacting with students and being in higher ed. I would eventually like to move to a not-for-profit school because this position is a little sales-y for me, that's not a strength of mine and they're VERY big on numbers here and meeting goals.

I work for a non-profit organization that develops/writes/implements NCI sponsored cancer research studies. I organize and write studies in conjunction with statisticians and physicians for GI cancers, Cancer survivors, and symptom control & quality of life.

ETA: I like my job and most of my co-workers are nice. I am the youngest person in the office and definitely get picked on for it, but I've managed to move up the ladder quicker than my older co-workers, so I am happy with that. The pay is decent and my boss leaves me alone

I'm an admin for a Conference Service Manager. I was an Event Manager with Marriott prior to this, but had to take a step down when I moved to VA. I'm hoping to get back into management when I move to MD/NOVA/wherever the hell we end up settling on living.

I love my manager. I like my boss. I hate what I do, only because I've been a manager before and I don't like having to step back into an admin roll. Feels backwards and drives me batty.

I was working as an addictions counselor and I loved the job. It was awesome to see people get their lives back together after years of addiction, downside was when people went back to use though. My new job, which I haven't started yet, is an adolescent mental health counselor. I'm excited to go back to working with children, however I haven't worked with adolescents in 3 years so I have no clue what it will be like. I love working in the counselor field though. I obtained my undergrad degree in special ed/el. ed and then decided I didn't like teaching. I went back for my masters and started in the school counseling program and then decided to do the dual program of school counseling/community mental health counseling which turned out to be a great decision.

I'm an academic secretary for a medical university. I like my job (I quit teaching when I moved here), make a decent salary, and I like 98% of the people I work with. August will mark my 3rd anniversary here (I moved here in June of 08).

This summer I am finishing my PhD in Industrial and Operations Engineering. Mostly grad school has been ok, but I think I'm not that cut out for it. Lately, my advisor (boss) has been captain of team douche-canoe, but he's normally ok. But at least there's an end-date for it.

In the fall I am starting as a management consultant.

I am the corporate credit manager of a tech company. Although I am technically a department of one, I report up through the accounting organization and am returning to school in the fall for my B.S. in accounting. My first degree is in pyschology and I'm obviously not using it here.

Ha, me too! I'm also a legal assistant/paralegal and my last day is Friday as well. I used to work in the Trust and Estates Department (estate planning work), but my boss left the firm at the end of Feb and didn't take me with him (I was super pissed about that) and the firm decided to move me to Elder Law Litigation. I hate it and I hate my bosses and I hate the firm I work for. I finally decided to just get the hell out of here.

I'm an office manager for a small office furniture dealer that primarily provides all the furniture/service for several local hospitals. It has absoulutely nothing to do with my degree (real estate development), but obviously that's a crap field right now, so this was the only job I could find. It's okay, the actual work is a little boring, especially since I've gotten so efficient at it, I'm left with a lot of time (hence being on TK at work). My boss is great though and the pay isn't bad, so I'll probably stay for a little while until the market recovers and I can actually find work in my field.

Anna- I struggle with the lack of human interaction in my office. There are two other ladies connected to my office but we do not speak. ever. It drives me crazy that I don't have someone to just chit chat with occasionally.

My degrees are in Phys Ed/ Health, and normally I'm a teacher. I love it and miss it, and am really hoping to get back into it at our next station.

Currently I work for a travel health company, I guess as an admin assistant. I answer phones, make appointments, and make files. I work from home, so the only thing I need to deal with in my "office" is that my dog snores really loud and I feel like customers can hear him. My boss is awesome, and we meet for lunch or coffee every 1-2 weeks to swap paperwork. I really like this job, but I miss teaching, and I miss making more money.

I am basically everyone's biitch. I like it here for the most part. I think there is room for me to grow into more than this so that is nice.

I'm a copywriter for a web design company. So basically, I write all the text that goes on websites based on the customer's interview. Sometimes I interview the customers myself for our bigger partners, and QC (edit) the sites as well. I do a lot of training and supervisor work as well, though I'm apparently not good enough to be a real supervisor.

I mostly like my job so long as I don't have to work with the people I don't like. I get to write al day, or at the very least be part of the creative process. The girl who was promoted to supervisor is working with my "team," so that will make it better too since we're pretty close and I know she'll do a great job. At some point I might just move to QC though.

Ultimately, I want to get away from here and just be a full-time author. I'm not cut out for a desk job like this. I am also thinking about possibly doing some adjunct teaching at my university, but am hesitant because I look about 15 and no one ever takes me seriously. Eventually I'll go abck and get my PhD in Literature and Native American studies.
