  Do you know of any hot dog carts or food trucks in the area? I thought about doing this and researched a few food trucks in LA that I really like. It would have been $500-$1000 minimum to rent them out, plus food costs. Hot dog carts might be cheaper. I ended up not doing it, but I really like the idea.

There are many lists on Twitter that have food truck vendors by state.  Once you have names, you can check their Tweets and see where they're going to be, and go to that location to try the food.  Basic hot dog vendors may not be there, but the nicer trucks most likely are.
