Re: Bueller?....Bueller?

  • Freaky. I almost had Bueller as my subject too...
    Perhaps I'll turn mine into a poll/
  • I'm here. I'm tired and being "saucy" to one of my friends who has been texting me constantly to ask about the weather. Said friend also still listens to the radio stations up here and reads the news online from up here and says she doesn't want to move back. So why am I her personal weather lady? It gets old and irritating.

    ::raises hand::

Washing clothes and packing in prep for my trip to California.  Meeting Smokes, Kati and Mery on Friday!  Very excited!

Starting Saturday, I'll be driving my mom and 15-year old brother cross-country.  Good times.  I'll be in Louisville on Monday night.  (hint hint) ;)  Back home Tues. afternoon.  It will be an adventure to say the least.
  • My internet's being really slow, so I think I'm out for the evening. FI's coming home soon, and we're about to have a lovely dinner of vegan BBQ riblets (yep, you heard me!), acorn squash, and a salad, all while watching Predator. Good times.

Have a lovely night, ladies! Hope you're staying warm if you're in a snowy area of the country :)
  • I'm here watching TV.  I'm seriously considering taking a bubble bath right now because it's been a long day and I'm cold, but I don't want to risk getting my hair wet because I have to go pick up H from work in a couple of hours and it's damned cold out there.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

  • I'm watching 20/20 on WE.. they are talking about polygamy.

Not sure how I feel about it.  I know I could not do it, but I'm not sure I would stop another woman from doing it... Let's face it there are a lot of men who cheat, these woman just except it as normal (or do they only for the media??)

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Im at home, doing work and trying not to watch AI. Perhaps something else is on.

I'm pissed because I bought some meat on Saturday and it went bad already. It was only 2 days past the sell by date today. So we had to have a meatless dinner. Boo!

I don't know. She likes to know what's happening first hand so she can "experience" it. I mean seriously. All day she's texted me "is it still going on? You know, the clusterfuck?" No, friend. all 40 inches of snow miraculously disappeared since the last time we texted an hour ago and it's a desert out there. The snow is just a mirage.

I could go on about polygamy for hours.  I wrote and published a law review article on the subject.  It's fascinating.

The main problems with polygamy that a) it's mathematically and scientifically never going to work and b) it's often, unfortunately, deeply entwined with welfare fraud, domestic violence, child neglect, and drug use.

    Dude, the hair is epic.

It's actually one of the signs of someone being disobedient.  If you cut your hair, you're basically an outcast.  If you try a different hairstyle than everyone else, you're clearly a whore.  I wish I was joking.

It is fascinating... I dont' buy that all these woman think it's a great idea... some seem to fall into a cult like situation and are too embarrassed to admit it's not a good idea....

If there were woman who had multiple husbands  then I might be able to buy it.. but this is so one sided, so  I do not think it's realistic for most woman.

  • Lynda, if you're interested, read Stolen Innocence by Elissa Wall.  It's a narrative of a woman who escaped a polygamous marriage and a really interesting read.

There are polyandrous communities in Tibet, Africa, and India where the women have multiple husbands, but that's not happening in Utah.

Oh, Im fine with having a vegetarian dinner. We actually do that a lot.  FI's idea of a good dinner is crusty french bread, feta cheese, and sliced veggies (usually cukes, radishes, bell peppers, and tomatoes). That is dinner at least twice a week. I also cook a lot of beans. But that was the only good protein we had, and I wanted to to last for 2 days of dinner, and it severely let me down.

Lynda, I'm sorry. Mostly it makes me feel guilty for wasting money. And it was healthy(er) ground bison.

thanks.  I will look it up.

West Indians (at least here) have mutliple partners regardless if they are male or female..  It's safe to say that a lot siblings who are 'local' do not have the same 2 parents.  but they never use the word 'half' ... it's always just this is my 'sister' or 'brother'.
