Someone on TN just posted this...and I think it's about Nebb, which doesn't seem very Nebblike to me.

ETA: I bet that one chick in that UO thread said things like, "But this is MY DAY!!" multiple times on her wedding day. I bet she also got "post-wedding blues."

That was my question on page 6, and you answered it. My point was it seems like people are focused on the adults when they talk about welfare, and not so much the kids.

I don't think it's a lack of focus on the kids, it's more of an intolerance of saying that because people have children, they get a free pass at lifelong welfare. I get that not all people are just abusing welfare, and it might even be a small percentage that are, but it burns me up that people can have child after child when they aren't even taking care of themselves. I'm not running for office, or even suggesting that I have all the answers, but I sure as shiiit don't think the answer is just because you've shat out some kids means that the tax payers are responsible for providing for those children indefinitely.

I agree with you 100%. I was curious on people's views. Do I think people abuse welfare? Yes. But saying they should starve does seem harsh even for a UO.

However, I can't really say anything b/c FI and I talk about how some people should get their tubes tied, and that is a huge UO.

No, I don't have any idea how we would determine who should have their tubes tied, but it makes me angry that people keep bringing kids into the world that they cannot care for.

I know, and I know that there isn't an easy answer, but they need to work on some alternatives. Maybe give tax breaks to families who foster. I really don't know, but like I said, passing out welfare indefinitely is not the answer.

Regarding welfare..when I was pregnant with my youngest, my job paid bupkas. I enrolled in WIC, which embarrassed me. It also spurred me on to move up at the company I worked of so I could get off of it.

Welfare was designed as a temporary help, but there are people who take advantage.

Should women on welfare be forced to take BC? No, but there should be a cut off on raises after a certain number of children. There should also be restrictions on what you can buy on food stamps...everything is bar coded for check out reasons and inventory tracking so I don't think it would be that hard to restrict the purchase of junk food/unhealthy food etc by using barcodes. I also think that you should have to present a photo ID when using the food stamp cards, and that if your state doesn't do it, then the name of the recipient (or head of house/care taker or recipient) shold also be on the card. Believe it on not there is a black market out there where you can sell your card for cash.

Oh, and this might catch me some shiiit, but if you're going to be on welfare or food stamps, then you need to be a citizen or have a green card, even if your kids were born here and you weren't.
