Cake or Cupcakes?

I can't decide if I want to have a big cake or a small on for the "cake cutting" then a bunch of cupcakes! My sister and I used to say we were going to start a bakery and I'm tempted to make them ourselves, but I won't. I don't want to stress myself out TOO much seeing as our wedding is 13 days away!

FI doesn't even like cake of any cake so he's sucking it up for a picture and he doesn't care, hah! I'm being nice though, he prefers fruit than chocolate or anything rich so were doing something that he won't mind too much for his one bite :)

We're doing the small cake for the cutting, then a variety (4 types) of cupcakes.
Another bonus? No worrying about having staff cut the cake up and less silverware/plates! :)

I am a sucker for it so I voted cake :P  (I dabble in cake decorating when not doing wedding DIY, so I love seeing them)

Did I read something wrong or are you planning a wedding to be finished in under a month? Just curious.

FI is the same way, so we are only doing a bridal cake plus chocolate fountain.

I voted cupcakes, though, cause I think it's less hassle to have anything cut and you can get more variety with the flavors.

And now I would like a cupcake.

Though I love sprinkles cupcakes... I voted cake. I love the look of a big nicey decorated cake. Also, compare prices and see what fits in the budget.

Whenever I see this question, the thing I ask is, what type of wedding are you having/what kind of vibe are you going for?  A formal wedding with a showstopper cake or a more laid back casual event?  To me cupcakes say more laid back and a cake says more formal (although you can certainly have cupcakes at a formal event and vice versa--this is just what it says to me).

For me, I always pictured a big white wedding cake so that is what I had.

<div>Yes, we are having a very short engagement haha. He proposed a little over 2 weeks ago and I have 13 day left to plan. I am having my wedding on a Monday because most vendors don't book them and I was able to get everyone. It's also going to be really small. Definitely laid back :)</div>

I think cupcakes would be cute then.  And probably easier to choose and order too since there are lots of great cupcakeries in Dallas.  Personally as I guest, I would be happy with either!  :)

Wendi - The red velvet is there Saturday too.. Om nom nom nom! :D  That being said, I have 4 cake tastings this weekend.  I may be caked out.

FWIW OP, Stephie always has amazing advice.  Since you only have a short time, cup cakes all the way (and maybe a small round for you and FI)  If you need a rec on cupcakes, Sprinkles. Sprinkles. Sprinkles.

Oooh, where??  Ben stopped with our 2nd tasting.  He was like "We're not going to find anything that tastes better than that."  *sigh*

And OMG, it is sooo much cake.  I hope all 4 aren't on the same day!

There was a girl in college that I didn't even know very well that gave me sprinkles cupcakes all the time! They are delish, but it was kinda weird haha.

You are going to be caked out as soon as you get your Cake Guys samples. Seriously, that was our dessert on Valentines night, and my dessert the next 4 nights.

My boss' wedding cake from FA averaged out to $9 a slice. I nearly fainted.
