So, BF has been asking me to give him ring ideas for whenever he makes up his mind to propose. I love looking at rings so I thought I would post a few links to ones I've been loving and see what you all think

    I really like 1. I went ring-shopping with my BF today and he had me try on a ring with pave diamonds on the side of the band rather than the top. I hadn't realized how amazing it woud look until I saw it on!  

    I would go out and try some things on and see what looks best on your fingers. I have really long, thin fingers and what looked good on the internet looked silly on me, and what didn't look great online looked wonderful IRL!  Plus, sparklies up close? Nothing beats it!

    I'm honestly not crazy about any of them.  Sorry!

    But I have weird taste, I think.  I prefer a larger non-diamond to a small diamond for the same cost.

    Of the three, I like the 3rd the best.

    I would want a big one just like any other girl, but I've got teeny tiny hands and am an engineering student so I don't want it to be so big I can't wear it becacuse it gets in the way.

    Oh, I understand that there are perfectly valid reasons for getting a smaller stone.  I didn't mean to sound like there aren't.  I just really don't like the look of them.  I feel like a ring should either have no main stone or should have a main stone that's big enough to do the job of a main stone, if that makes sense.

    See, in your situation, I would just get a larger stone ring and not wear it all the time.  I don't work with my hands, and I still don't wear my ring all the time.  Like I already mentioned, though, I'm weird.

    Sorry, I'm just rambling.  Not trying to change your taste or anything...

    It's ok. I just wanted to point out that I did have reasons. I probably will wear mine all the time so it just makes more sense for the smaller ones.

    Agree 100%. The only reason I didn't pick #1 is for that exact reason. It was my favorite if all of the stones were the same size, but having a center stone that it slightly larger than the rest looks silly IMO.

    They're not really my style for me personally, but of the three I like #2 best.

    It's what you like hun.... I'm not a fan of pave set nor marquise... so none are anything I'd ever like. But, don't listen to us for an opinion, decide what you like and go with it.

    Of those 3, I would pick #1, followed closely by #3. I like pave.

    I was telling my BF today that when I first went to try on rings I thought "Oh the Pave ones look really glittery and ridiculous I don't think I want that at all", then I put one on and said "OMG THIS IS REALLY GLITTERY I LOVE THIS". 

    I'm on Nursery's boat with Marquis. I think you have to have the right hands for them. The first ring a guy ever gave me was a marquis-cut ruby ring with microscopic little diamonds. If an ex had gotten me an emerald-cut gemstone at some point, I might hate those too :-)

    I'm not really a fan of any.  They aren't my style, and I agree with Elle's points.  This one girl I know had an e-ring that looked like a promise ring based on the way it was looped (apparently she forced her now-husband to propose...as in took him to the jewelry store and demanded a sparkly and a proposal, and he did it).  When I searched it, it came up as a promise ring.  Awkward.  Sorry, I needed to let judgemental Peek out to play for a few.

    It's really up to you.  Although, if you like the pave and the small stone, I would go for a colored gemstone.  I don't like the diamonds being only slightly bigger than the pave, but I think a colored gemstone would be just as sparkly and set apart from the pave, which is what a bigger diamond would do.

    Like some of the other ladies, none of them are really my style, but of the 3 I like #2 best then #1. I like the uniqueness of the coloured stone in #1 but I've never really been a fan of that type of setting...

    Yeah, I'm sorry, but I don't really like any of those. I like lots of little diamonds in bands or as side stones, but when it's lots of tiny diamonds and pave trying to look like a classic or more expensive engagement ring...it's just not a good look, IMO.

    There are LOTS of options on the lower end of the budget that have bezel or low set diamonds, there are lots of inexpensive bands out there, and there is always, as PPs mentioned moissanite or colored gemstones to consider.

    Again, it wasn't the price of those that I liked. It was the size. I have my mom's engagement ring that has a fairly small stone and it still looks weird on my fingers. I don't have a problem with them being promise rings if they are. I really kind of liked the 3rd because it matched a necklace he bought me the first time he had to leave town for an extended time when we started dating. I have so many different rings family members have given me and I know I do like things that look a bit more plain but still have the sparkle.

    Have you had any of the rings on your finger yet? I think that will really determine a lot. However...I do really like #3. :)

    I haven't had a chance to go look yet. I came back to school and haven't had much time to leave campus with all the labs for my degree.
