GOOD Morning my fellow knoties!
I hope that you had a most excellent weekend. I had posted last week about going to David's bridal to just go try on some dresses. It was my first foray into the world of bridal gowns and I figure DB was the best place to wet my feet. I got to try on like 5-6 dresses. It was a whirlwind, an hour an a half passes by so quickly. The consultant was insanely sweet and she gave me some great insight and suggestions.
Anyways here they are. It was down to two, my MOH liked one and my FI liked the other. All the dresses were gorgeous but only two had that beachy/outdoor wedding feel. Since I really didn't absolutely fall in love with either one I think I might go visit another bridal salon so I can get a comparison feeling. Well without further a due here are the pics. Sorry they are camera phone pics. My camera battery died. (Also look for Puppy AW thread, I got a puppy this past weekend as well!)
Waiting for the consultant FI was being sneaky and taking pics.

MOH wanted a pic, and FI is looking sneaky. I was being bummy in a Roxy swim cover dress and flippy flops.

Shangtung Ball gown with pockets! FI loved this one because he says it fits the personality that he knows me as fun, flirty, easy going and simple.

My hands are in the pockets, so ok I don't know what I would put in there but still I love pockets! The sash added some color to the dress.

Mind the goofy expression, I was trying to get MOH to take the pic so I could move. This one was MOH's favorite, because to her it was more interesting to look at, also it gave a more beachy/outdoor feeling and hugged my figure better. Bonus the bottom detaches and becomes a shorter dress to dance in.

The "Cschiano" dress, hahaha this was a great contender, I loved the fit and the feel but the charmeuse was better suited for an indoor wedding than an outdoor wedding at least for FI, MOH and I were concerned. I will admit CSchiano this dress you picked for your wedding is gorgeous and feels great.

This one was an all over beaded and lace gown. The consultant added the turquoise sash, it was pretty but it felt heavy and drapery on me. Plus I wasn't a fan of all the beading, though FI and MOH said it was their third favorite.

I had to at least try this one, it wasn't a realistic contender for my wedding gown but I wanted to see what it would look like on me. My version of pretty princess! Fi (as seen in the background) did not like the gown AT ALL. Hahaha....

The feather hair clip I was sporting, I kind of dug it, wasn't originally thinking feathers I was more a flower person but I might have to reconsider.

There was one other dress but we ALL disliked it so much that as soon as it was on and MOH and FI saw it, it came right back off. It was a ball gown but with an empire waistline. I felt like I was wearing a cone of fabric. Thanks for looking through the pics. I am torn between the first and the second one. What do you guys think? BTW looks better in person, the second one looks funny to me in pics, but was so much prettier in person. So makes me wonder what the wedding photos will look like, but then I also realized that the dress was pinned back so if it was altered to my size and measurements it probably look better.
Re: Visit to DB's to try wedding dresses *PIP*
I'm glad you tried on the pretty princess gown just for giggles. It's fun to have the picture , at least.
And I love cschiano's dress, and you in it as well
I actually love you in that princess dress, but I completely get why you wouldn't really want it for your wedding haha.
something like this on the first dress might jazz it up a little bit and add a little bit of your own personality, plus give a focal point right at your tiny waist. just an idea, I love adding flowers/brooches/belts to my own outfits... it helps to draw attention to a small waist and not so much my wide hips. maybe you're not into that...?
My pick: MOH's favorite, with FI's fave a close second. MOH's favorite it shows you off so nicely. I like cschiano's dress on you, figure-wise, better than your FI's favorite, actually.
However, I agree you should look at more options at another store, because while the top two do look lovely on you, I think there's a little more room for a blow-you-away, knockout choice.

I love both of the dresses, and I can see why you'd feel torn because they're so different.
The first one strikes me the same way Shelton described it, kind of laid back and fun.
The second one strikes me as more of a beach wedding dress because of the slim fit. Plus, I think it's really neat that it shortens.
Either way, you look comfortable in both of them. And I love the sash! But if you don't feel like you love either one of them right now, definitely go to another store and see how you feel then. You might change your mind and come back to one or the other, or you might decide to keep looking and find something else.
Ladies I do like the poofy princess dress, I just can't picture walking towards the alter over grass and sand in that thing and collecting sand in the skirt, hahaha, plus FI probably walk off if he saw me walking towards him in that.

The dress that cschiano bought is the one that I almost bought when we were hell bent on having our wedding in Hawaii. Even though we aren't doing HI anymore, it was still a beautiful dress and sooo comfy to wear.
My second favorite on you is the mermaid cut. I love how you can see your figure! That style gave my just enough curves to feel like a woman, but not so much that I felt like it was a prom dress.
But it's from David's...KIDDING!!

I spy my dress! It's in the left corner of your very first picture.
I am with you on the feathers. At first I wasn't really into them, but after it has stewed in my brain for a while I am starting to really like them. I think I am going to try my hand at making some. THIS etsy seller has some beautiful ones and I think hers will be my inspiration.

This!!<div>
</div><div>And I <em>really</em> like you in the first one - you look amazingggg. It is a shame that most of the DB dresses that scream "beachy" to me are only available online. Good job not buying one on your first trip (something I failed at - damn impulsiveness). </div>

My second choice would be the first dress, but only with the sash. It looked too shapeless without it.
I like the hairpiece, but if you want a similar effect with flowers, you could use a spray of white orchids or a single large flower like a gardenia.

Glad you had fun!
I love them both.....I really like #2 though. And bonus that you can shorten it and dance your face off;)

I *should* like dress 2 more...it looks similar to mine! But, for some reason, the way it is cut and the way it flares just looks a little too...rigid? I don't know, just kind of proper and fitted for your smile, personality, and location.
But...definitely keep looking. Either one of these will keep popping up in your head as the one you compare it against, or you'll find something that blows them all out of the water
