Hello!

Hey all!
I have been a member of The Knot since I got engaged about a year ago, but haven't really gotten too active on the local board yet, so I just wanted to introduce myself. My fiance and I are getting married on June 25, 2011 at Tartan Park in Lake Elmo. I am sure I will be on here asking loads of questions in the next couple of months, hehe! So just wanted to say hi to you all.. :)

    Welcome!! :) My FI and I are getting married the week before you!  And we also got engaged about a year ago...sounds like we are on the same path :)

    Kaylas16 and Ogrady88--how far along are you guys in the planning process? So far, I have my dress, my bridesmaid dresses, the flowers, and the DJ picked out. (And obviously the venue and date, hehe!) I'm feeling a little behind, though. We haven't even sent our Save the Dates yet! Just curious if you two are feeling the pressure or if you're smooth sailing yet...

    DebbieUpper--Thanks, we love Tartan Park too! They are in the process of planning the construction of a gazebo up near the clubhouse, so we are hoping that it will be built in time for us to use it for our ceremony!

    I think I'm doing pretty well, but we've sort of let our guard down the past few months.  I'm starting to feel the pressure and we are using the Christmas break to really re-focus our checklist and create a timeline list of to dos.  FI is in grad school here in LA, so planning from afar has been a challenge, so I think it helped us book things further in advance.  You seem to be doing quite well!  You should come join the June 2011 board as well.  :)

    Thanks for the advice, I will definitely join that board. My fiance is in grad school as well so Christmas break will be a time to really crack down for us, too. Are you from Minnesota? Or are you just having your wedding here? That would be hard to plan from afar! Good for you for staying on it!

    I'm from Western Wisconsin (it's in the Twin Cities metro area) originally and we're having our wedding there so I join this board as most of the Wisconsin board is for Madison/Milwaukee.  I moved out to California to be closer to FI who is originally from the San Francisco area.  Where is your FI going to school?

    We are just about to book our cake baker and then after that I THINK lol we have all our vendors booked (except transportation if we decide to use it) STDs only got sent out a couple weeks ago...We just started a registry at Target this last weekend.  Today we completed (finally) the bridesmaid dress order (I've had the dress picked since September but took this long for all the girls to get it together lol)   I feel like I have alot of the major stuff done but it's all the details that overwhelm me and make me feel crunched for time.  If none of us had work/school/life and endless money it would be so easy! :)

    Oh, gotcha.. Just so you know, you are missing out on a TON of snow here! ;) My fiance goes to school in Mankato, MN (Southern MN) for Manufacturing Engineering Technology. I moved down here a few months ago to be with him, like you did for your guy.. Only my move was only 4 hours away, not across the country! California must've been quite the transition for you!

    haha, I hear ya on the "if only we had endless money and time" thing. And I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one stressing over the SMALL things rather than the big, hehe! I'm so excited to register! We're going to register at Target, too. Was it so much fun?? I was curious if we should wait til after Christmas to register, because I was worried that some items might be around just for the holidays, but did you run into any of that? If not, maybe we'll get that out of the way soon. It's one of the things I've been looking forward to most!

    Yup, he is a SUPER DUPER senior haha.  It's his 6th year... we met at school in Winona then after 3 years there he transfered to MSU to get into a new major/program, then he decided on another new major after a semester there!  Luckily he will finally be done in May! 

    As for our baker we are going with Jeff's Sweet Treats.  Some one on here (can't remember who) recommended him a few times and he had the most delicious cake I've ever had (amazing different flavors)  Plus it turns out I live like 2 miles from him and his wife and him had their reception at the same place we are going to! (Stonebrooke Golf Course)  With all that and his quote being the lowest of the people we met with we decided to go with him.  It was a way harder decision than I thought it would be!

    California has been a bit of an adjustment, but not too bad.  I am actually missing the snow this year...it's hard to get excited for Christmas when it is 80 degrees and sunny.  I was laying out on our deck this weekend getting a tan.  Last year, we were back in WI for Christmas, but this year we'll be here.  We are going to Tahoe this weekend, where we'll get our snow fix in I'm sure though.

    Oh and as far as the Target registry, we stayed away from holiday-ish items and a few things we scanned came up as "may not be available in the future" (not exact wording but soemthing like that...) So we just skipped those.

    We are just trying to get as much done while Tory (FI) is off on winter break and we can do things together!  Plus, his mom was excited that we started one because she didn't know what to get us for xmas lol

    Good to know.. I didn't realize the scanner would tell you if it would be available or not. That's nice! Well cool, maybe we'll do that next week. Something to look forward to! :) Yes, thank goodness for Christmas break. We are going to have to take advantage of the time off and try to get some things checked off our To-Do list!

    Wow, too cool! Where is your wedding party staying? We're at a hotel in Woodbury called Wildwood Lodge. Stillwater is such a fun and beautiful town! That's gonna be awesome. You getting married outdoors at the golf course, too?
