cake cutting song?

I was thinking of doing Beyonce "Halo" for our cake cutting.  It's a beautiful song and FI and I both love it - but is a slow song appropriate for the cake cutting?  Should we pick something more upbeat?  Our first dance song is the Beatles "All You Need is Love".

    I think that it is fine. Hardly anyone really notices the cake cutting song. My FH and I are having "Lucky (I'm In Love With My Best Friend)" for our cake cutting song. It is also kinda slow.

    Do you really *need* a cake cutting song?  We had an ipod reception and when we wanted to cut the cake, we just got up and did it.  No one thought, "Oh, that songs not right!!"  No.one.cares.

    Ditto the PPs, nobody really notices the cake cutting song, so when a couple picks one, they're pretty much doing it for themselves (Nothing wrong with this, we picked a song, and we were pretty much the only 2 people who knew it was playing, it made us happy though). ... most guests at that point are just waiting to see if the couple is going to smash cake in each other's faces or not.

    I don't think anyone will notice my song except for me, but I wnt to be really involved in all of the music choices.  I am doing Crash by Dave Matthews I have always really loved that song so it works for me!

    A friend did "Hit me with your best shot!" It was great! Trust me, everyone noticed! If people are noticing or caring, then you choose a song that didn't get their attention.  Pick an update fun song!

    I went to a reception where they didn't play a song and I felt that it was incredibly awkward. Maybe people don't notice what song it is, but they certainly notice silence.
