Going outside David's Bridal for alterations?

For all you David Bridal brides out there, have any of you gone outside the store for alterations?

Since Wayne is closed due to flooding and it doesn't look like they will be open in time for my alterations that means I'd have to go to Paramus. From what I have heard and experienced for myself....Paramus is awful.

I just called to make my alterations appointment and the woman who I could barely understand asked if I was calling for Wayne and I said "I am a Wayne customer but since they are closed I need to schedule with you." She said "no.... I transfer you to Wayne." obviously that transfer went BACK to Paramus since like I had said Wayne is CLOSED.

I was thinking of bringing my dress to a local seamstress...has anyone else dones this and if so how'd it turn out for you?

Or should I suck it up and go to DB and get the alterations done? if I do I might go out of my way and head to Springfield.

Even if I purchased my dress at David's Bridal, I wouldn't get the alterations done there. I've just heard too many horror stories.
Check out Hollywood Bridal in Kenilworth for alterations. I know for a fact that they will alter a dress that wasn't purchased there, and their prices are reasonable. Plus they do an awesome job. I just had my final fitting there last night and everything came out perfect.

I'm so leery about going elsewhere for alternations. If something happens to it when being altered elsewhere, David's Bridal will not help you.

If you're not loving Paramus..maybe go elsewhere even though it might be slightly out of the way?

I used to work at DB and I am aware at how untrained the seamstresses are. Plus I have been witness to two of my brides bustles falling apart one prior to her ceremony and one in the middle of her time warp dance where she ended up tripping over her train and falling.

The problem is there are only 2 stores near me, Paramus and Springfield, Paramus has a horrible reputation and Springfield is the store I worked at where I don't trust anyone there. I really wish Wayne didn't flood. :(

What are the chances of something happening to your dress if you took it somewhere else and then David's Bridal not helping you? I'd rather take that chance, instead of having DB alter it.

Thx ladies. I just bought my dress at the East Brunswick location. I have heard horror stories about the dresses, so i plan on taking it elsewhere to get altered. I've had great experiences with Hollywood Bridal for a previous wedding i was in, so i will try there for alterations.
