Luxor is having a great sale on their room rates.However I have read the reviews and they are not good at all. Has anyone stayed at Luxor before or can offer me any advise on the quality of the rooms ?

I've heard the pyramid rooms have not been refreshed in a while, and when I was in their casino in June of this year it was a bit grimy so I would not be surprised if the room stories were true. Not sure about the tower rooms though.

Oyster.com reports that the tower rooms are recently renovated and very nice.

I stayed at the Luxor in February. I have also heard not to stay in the "pyramid rooms" so we upgraded one to the "tower rooms". They were completely nice rooms. I was actually surprised at the room quality. It was very nice and all the staff that we encountered were wonderful! It was like 10 or 15 dollars to upgrade.

stayed in the pyramid, I thought it was fine...just really strange cuz everything was slanted (the ceiling, windows, elevator, etc)

I just want to thank you all for your timely posts on the condition of the rooms at Luxor! I am currently in a battle with my mom who thinks "I'll be disappointed by staying at the Luxor". (Even though she's never stayed there herself). The reviews do seem to be all negative (but I always think people are more motivated to write when their experience was negative).

Frankly, the Luxor prices are much more in line with what I am willing to pay, and I really like the idea of staying in a hotel shaped like a pyramid! I think I'll upgrade to the Tower Rooms though. I've read the Pyramid rooms have shower drainage issues....

I stayed in the luxor last summer, not in the tower rooms and it was ok. it was fine for people who just want to have a place to sleep. It was clean but the rooms were just average. I dont know about the tower rooms, i have heard they are nicer.

Not sure if it will help but you can use the code PSC30 to get 30% off rooms booked through Mandalay's website which is right next door to Luxor and I think you'll find it a lot nicer; might solve the budget issue and the mom issue. :-)

I've also heard the weird escalator you have to take in the pyramid rooms makes people dizzy. I think in general, Luxor is a good affordable option, but check for deals. MGM and MB have tons on them and they're on that same end of the strip.

I've stayed in both types of rooms and would 100% recommend that you get a tower room over the pyramid. The pyramid room was really awkward to get to and everyone downstairs could see when we were leaving or arriving to our room. I did not like that one bit!

I stayed at the Luxor last summer. It was ok, but i wouldnt go back. The tram was back the whole time and u'd be surprised how long of a walk it is to MGM from Luxor. But I must say, all the employees we encountered were very friendly...we were there for my birthday and signed up for the players card and they gave me a bunch of free stuff and 2 free buffets for my bday...which i thought was super nice (since i had spent a grand total of $8 in gambling). But i just booked MGM for our first night in vegas for our wedding...got a great deal...heres the promo code if your interested...MGM0901. HTH!

We stayed in the Tower in the Luxor last December and it was absolutely fine. I'm sure there's more luxurious hotels in Vegas but we wanted somewhere to sleep at night and for that it was perfect and a great price. I thought the Casino was actually in great condition, I didn't notice it being grubby but maybe I wasn't looking hard enough!!

The staff were friendly enough, the only complaint I'd have of them was a friend told us to give a tip on check in to get a high room with a view and king size bed. We did this and when we got to our room we had 2 single beds and no view!! We complained to the manager and they said she should never have taken the money because Luxor doesn't really have any strip views. They did change our room to one with a king size bed though. We also upgraded on the last night to a suite for just $50 which was great, especially as it was my birthday and the night we got engaged!!

We're planning on marrying in Mandalay Bay and I'll definitely be recommending the Luxor to our guests if MB prices are a bit too much!

I would stay at the Luxor but probably not for my wedding week. I wanted that time to be a little more special. Ususally while I'm in Vegas, it is a 'where I can hang my hat' kinda feeling, but witht the wedding, I wanted to feel taken care of.
