Re: Thursday night

  • Haha Tracy, that made me laugh. Good night! And good night to everyone else who just left!

[QUOTE]Well, that sucks, willy.  Target has ones that aren't bad for pretty cheap if you can't find exactly what you want.

<div>They will work in a pinch. We are going to Sioux Falls tomorrow where I can get to BBB and a great restaurant suppy place, too, that might have them. We can rent nice ones, too, but since I end up hosting most of the time, it'd be wise to just buy them if the price is right. </div><div>
</div><div>It's gonna be an awesome party. My dad is SO excited! And, it's the first big bash in our new home besides just family. YAY!</div>

  • Oh, I've gone to plenty of midnight showings.  But I'm too old for that nonsense these days.  Get off my lawn!

    But people will ruin them.

H is at the theatre.  I would have gone if we didn't have the funeral OR if I didn' have to work afterwards.

<div>Right? I think the only way I'd go to see a midnight showing of something is if there was some kind of promotion going on. Like, everyone that sees the midnight release gets a collectible figurine or something. I got 3D glasses that are shaped like HP's glasses in England because we went one of the first days it was out. </div>
  • Good night.

I do not do midnight showings.  I am sleeping then.

[QUOTE]Bye Leisel.  I<strong> don't think there has ever been a midnight release that I've wanted to see. I mean, when I'm on a regular schedule I'm sleeping by then. I figure if I'm REALLY excited to see something then I'll see it matinee the next day.</strong>

<div>I concur. Except when Hunger Games came out, MiddleDaughter & YoungSon drug me to it. I had to drive them, so figured might as well see it. </div>

<div>I didn't think about that. But most people in my circle are pretty good about not spoiling endings. </div>
  • So, MiddleDaughter (she is 14) is going to this camp for gifted kids on Sunday. We jokingly call it 'nerd camp.' But now she says they prefer the term 'intellectual badass.'

    I love that little nerd.

  • I've never been to a midnight showing. I guess I've always been kind of an old lady at heart and have always balked at the idea of starting a movie so late.
  • Alright, time for some Brave New World in the massage chair and bed.  Goodnight, all!

  • It's times like this that I really miss H. I'm not the kind of person that can do things by myself. Like, I always feel so awkward eating in a resturaunt or seeing a movie alone. And I really enjoy doing stuff like that.

<div>This might be why I do single well. I am usually comfortable doing these things alone. I'd prefer to go with a friend or SO because then I can talk to someone about it but if no one is available and it's something I really want to do, then I go alone. I rarely think afterwards "Damn, I wish I hadn't gone because being alone while doing this awesome thing was terrible." </div><div>
</div><div>Okay, I'm thinking more along the lines of visiting a museum but still. </div>
  • Awww, Poke.
    image
  • I think I could do a museum by myself if it was a guided tour or something - maybe. I don't know what it is, I shouldn't have a problem. Maybe it's just be hardwired in my brain that I have to go to these things with people.
  • I've done museums, movies and restaurants alone. It's not bad.

With three kids, alone time is rare and appreciated anymore. But there was definitely a time I was not comfortable with it.

  • The first time I decided to eat alone I went to IHop in the middle of the night to study. I told the hostess "1 please" and she responded with, " One, really? Just one?" I was mortified. If I eat alone now, I do it at a bar.

<div>I did feel awkward doing these things alone at first. Actually, I started going to things alone while still with me X. After a few times though, it's pretty nice. I don't go to nice, or even sit down restaurants alone. Panera and what not are fair game though. </div>

Yea. I didn't think it would be that uncommon.

  • Well, I can do the places where a bunch of other people are alone. Especially if I have a book or homework or something to do.

For a while our internet got shut off so I spent a fair amount of time in McDonalds so I could use the internet. I was still in college at that time and really needed it for studying. I would order a 20 pc nuggets and a small soda. I could sit in there for hours lol.

<div>My son was in Cub Scouts and loved it. But when he got to Boy Scouts, our local units are so based on camping and things my H cannot do anymore, so he lost interest. I really wasn't too sad. When they are little (as in Cub Scouts) there isn't the cray cray agenda. They just go have fun, make a craft and have snacks. And Pinewood Derby races are the bomb. </div><div>

  • Wally - this might be TMI but before I found the lovely large fan that I set up in the living room I would sit here in a t shirt and my undies because it was so damn hot. And no one was around to give a shiiiit.
  • I finally got the finished pics from my photographer and I love them. And I've complained about this before, but my SIL had gum in her mouth during the pictures and you can soooo tell. It's not really that big of a deal, but it kind of bugs me. She's an adult. She really didn't think it was appropriate to spit out her gum before formal pictures?
