AW - favors

I got a TON of crap finished over the weekend, including our favors, which I think turned out quite well.  There are bunches of new pics all over my bio of stuff I finally finished, but these are my favorites.  Please comment or AW a wedding project you've recently finished.  Bonus points if yours is favors too!

Re: AW - favors

  • Mmm...they look yummy!
  • Navy, they are.  We took the broken pretzels and spread them on a sheet pan at the end of the project.  Poured the rest of the melted chocolate over them and emptied out the white chocolate squeezy bottle that way too.  So, our stash at thome is messy, but SOOOO good.

  • I hate you. That is all.

  • I was thinking of doing the same thing!  How many did you make?  How long did it take you?  Do you mind me asking what the cost was?

    They look delicious!

  • Those look awesome! I really want to do cake balls for ours, but think I'd probably shoot myself half way through
  • I love those!
  • Those look great and your labels turned out terrific, too.

Uhhhhh. . . . we bought wedding bands last weekend.  I ironed some more napkins into interesting folds.  That's about it.
  • They look great!
  • Those look really yummy. And now I'm hungry.
  • They look great!  I tried doing these for Christmas last year as gifts for co-workers and after doing just 20, I was exhausted!  (I must not have been doing them right.)  It looks like you were very busy and they turned out great.  And I'm sure that they will taste great too!  YUM!

  • Awesome, great job!  I love chocolate covered pretzels.

  • Yum! They look great! Where did you end up getting the tags, or did you make them?

  • Very cute, and very tasty looking! Congrats on all your hard work paying off :)
  • Mmm delicious! They look really good! :)

I started beading my veil. THAT will be the biggest pain in the butt, ever. I spent an hour on it last night and I got, maybe, 6 inches done.

  • I just spent the last 15 minutes looking at all your DIYs...and of course now I want to try everything!  Between this and Polichik's coffee filter thingies, I am going to blame the knot if my GPA drops this semester.

  • Want!

I made my programs and flip flop basket this weekend.  They came out really well and were only a minor PITA.

  • Those look so cute! That's a favor I definitely wouldn't leave behind.
  • They were pretty easy and cheap.  It was REALLY good to have two extra sets of hands to make it go faster, though.  We did 300 pretzel sticks, or thereabouts, and portioned them three to a bag.  The pretzels themselves were about 8 cents per serving of three, and that wraps up the price of the breakage too.

The bags were about 7 cents each.  The chocolate was about 6 cents per serving, but that includes some leftover chocolate we didn't use.  Ribbon was about 3 cents, and the cardstok/xyron sticky to make the tags. . . I have no idea.  Leftovers from my other projects.  Maybe 4 cents total, per serving, MAX.  So - 28 cents per favor.  Not bad at all, in my opinion.

We made about 100.  I stopped counting at 95, which was the minimum (I don't care if the two infants get favors), and I think there are actually about 15 extra.  I did all the pricing math based on 100 servings, though.  We started at 11 am and were finished by 3 pm, although I had done the tags myself the night before.  2 helpers was about right - they could dip the pretzels while I swapped out the trays, chopped more chocolate, etc.

Also - we took at least an hour break in there to go to Qdoba for lunch.  That helped let the chocolate set up and harden, which keeps the bags from getting all smeary and messy.

I put some pretty specific instructions in my bio if you want to check that out, Hillary.

Ah, yes. . . :)  Enjoy that!  I can't decide if I want to avoid drinking this week, or let loose.

Did you make the chocolates from scratch, or buy and repackage?

  • Nope, we made them from scratch. Hence the jumping off the bridge thing. :o\
