I agree with Rickey - I just read all three of Chelsea Handler's books and they are hilarious. For a good summer read, I'd go with Jennifer Weiner's "Good in Bed." It's a fave.

    1) Favorite book?
Of all time?  The Dollanganger series by V.C. Andrews.

    2) Book you've enjoyed the least/one I should avoid?
I'm not done with it yet, but I just don't find it that intriguing:  The Art of Racing in the Rain.  It was supposed to be akin to Marley and Me, but I'm just not getting into it.

    3) Good fun summer read?
So far the only things I've read this summer and enjoyed have been the Sookie Stackhouse novels.
    4) A book you're looking forward to reading?
The Lovely Bones, and the rest of the Sookie Stackhouse books.  FMIL is reading them and I'm supposed to get them when she's done.
    5) Fav. author?
I have a lot, and most are classics.  Ernest Hemingway, Salinger, Kerouac, Sir Thomas Malory...I like the Twilight books (as seen in the other thread) as well as Harry Potter and other easy-reads.  I love Gregory Maguire (good one Ricky!) and also enjoy Rumi, e.e. cummings, Tom Stoppard, Sam Sheppard, and Peter Schaffer for poets and playwrights.

    1) Favorite book?
Too hard to choose. Big different between favorite and most influential. I love the Lord of the Ring trilogy, anything by CS Lewis, Don Miller books, Walking on Water by Madeline L'Engle, I've also read the Twilight series and HP dozens of times.

    2) Book you've enjoyed the least/one I should avoid?
The Secret History. Also, the Maytrees. (I don't enjoy reading books about infidelity.)

    3) Good fun summer read?
I read Confessions of a Shopaholic on a whim, and read the 2 sequels later that week. Jennifer Weiner in general. I also love me some Mary Higgins Clark mystery novels. Nora Roberts has a wedding 4-part series that's out right now too - good and fluffy. I really enjoyed Gone with the Wind and then Scarlett.

I also really enjoy memoirs - The Glass House was really interested. Three Cups of Tea. Kabul Beauty School.

    Also, Fast Food Nation.

    4) A book you're looking forward to reading?
My list right now is to read North and South, The Omnivore's Dilemna and The White Queen. I shall go to the library tonight after work.

    5) Fav. author?

Hmm too hard. CS Lewis, JRR Tolkein, Don Miller...

For fun? Bill Bryson, Philippa Gregory, Gregory Maguire...

    1) Favorite book?
     Jane Eyre

    2) Book you've enjoyed the least/one I should avoid?
Maybe it is just me, afterall it is a classic. However, I could not get through Catch 22 and neither could anyone else in my previous book club. On a whole though I enjoy most books.
    3) Good fun summer read?
Hmmm, for some reason I choose rather serious books. So, my light stuff would be series like Twilight and HP.

    4) A book you're looking forward to reading?
I always have a list of books, but I always look forward to anything by Phillippa Gregory.

    5) Fav. author?
I like many authors Jane Austen, Bryce Courtenay,  Sebastien Faulks, Phillippa Gregory, I could go on forever.

Oh! I also really liked Water for Elephants.  It is being made into a movie staring RPatz and Reese Witherspoon and I'm really looking forward to it.

And I'm reading the most recent Sookie novel. I read the others last year and find them fun.  Not great reads, but fun ones!

    1) Favorite book?

"The Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett.  It's AMAZING...if you haven't read it, you're missing out.

    2) Book you've enjoyed the least/one I should avoid?

"The Handmaid's Tale"...it was merely ok...and the end left me saying "Are you serious?  What was the point of that?"

    3) Good fun summer read?

I remember reading "The Lovely Bones" over a summer...it's a good book, but it breaks your heart.

    4) A book you're looking forward to reading?

"The Year of Magical Thinking" by Joan Didion.  I hear it's sad, but it sounds good.

    5) Fav. author?

Hmmm...I might have to go ahead and say Ken Follett.

    1) Favorite book?
My favorite series of books is the Black Jewels Trilogy by Anne Bishop. I also really enjoy Terry Brooks' books but he's rather wordy and it's hard to get through his books sometimes

    2) Book you've enjoyed the least/one I should avoid?
The Host is the only one that comes to mind right now and that's only because we were talking about Stephanie Meyer the other day - I really didn't like the story and the writing was bad to boot

    3) Good fun summer read?
Don't have an answer for this one...

    4) A book you're looking forward to reading?
Sense and Sensibility - I've actually never read it and just started it yesterday

    5) Fav. author?
Anne Bishop, Terry Brooks, Anne McCaffrey, LJ Smith (though I haven't read anything by her in a long time)

Hetshup - I'm glad you liked it Smile

I love to read!
    2) Book you've enjoyed the least/one I should avoid?I really really dislike Faulkner.
    3) Good fun summer read?If you're into fantasy or mystery, I highly recommend the Dresden files series by Jim Butcher.

    1) Favorite book?
Jurassic Park, Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, Eat Pray Love.

    2) Book you've enjoyed the least/one I should avoid?
The Lovely Bones and My Sister's Keeper. They were good books, but soooooooooo depressing.

    3) Good fun summer read?
The Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris are great for summer time. Very quick, easy reads. I'm also a big fan of Nora Roberts during the summertime. White Shark by Peter Benchley and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt are also good summer reads.

    4) A book you're looking forward to reading?
I just finished Eat Pray Love and I loved it. I'm seriously contemplating reading the follow-up to it. Right now, I'm pumped to start Jemima J again - I've read it before and enjoyed it, and it seemed like a good book to read as I try to re-jump start my diet and exercise plan.

    5) Fav. author?
    Charlaine Harris or Nora Roberts.
