How long did you and FI date before engagement? About a year. We were both unemployed, but discussed it and just set the date last month. Waiting on money for a ring.

How long between first date and wedding date? 22 months. We met online 2 months earlier.

How's the wedding planning going? Any blips or bumps in the road? Got the church and starting on the Pre-Cana. Checking out reception venues. Trying to find the best ways to save money. Biggest bump has been my children. My oldest is now okay with it after I talked to him. My middle child doesn't care. The youngest seems to think that her mother should remain single the rest of her life, due to the fact that no man (including her father) is good enough for me.

Next major project to tackle? Finding a dress that isn't strapless or a halter. Going to check out dressmakers this week as I found one that would be perfect if it only had short sleeves.

How long did you and FI date before engagement? Knew each other since 1st day of 1st grade. Dated just over a year before he proposed.
How long between first date and wedding date? Relationship was born out of friendship, so there wasn't really a 1st date. But from the date we realized it was more than friendship to the (proposed) wedding date, it'll be 3 yrs, 3 months & 27 days
How's the wedding planning going? Any blips or bumps in the road? We have some ideas on how we want the ceremony to be. Currently, the only thing keeping us from looking into booking the desired ceremony/reception site is that I need to verify that I am/am not considered eligable to be married in the eyes of our Church. Hope to meet w/ the priest very soon to figure that one out.
Next major project to tackle? Figure out final budget and start booking things!

The biggest hurdle has been the tuxes! They are expensive to rent...

Next major project to tackle? We have to figure out the music for the ceremony. A lot of DIY stuff, so I have invitations and my dress to finish up

We had a huge setback a few months ago with some financial issues that caused us to have to revisit our plans, so now instead of the 250+ guest list, we're down to immediate family and friends, so around 70. We're a little bummed but it is what it is.

Next major project to tackle? Favors. All of our ideas keep not panning out the way we thought they would. Oh well. :shrugs:

How long did you and FI date before engagement? This time around 2 years and nine months. (We dated and were engaged 33 years ago in 1978. Broke up over a misunderstanding someone else caused. Fi says, if we had cell phones back then it probably would never have happened!)

How long between first date and wedding date? 35 Years!!!! LOL!!

How's the wedding planning going? Any blips or bumps in the road?We're enjoying taking our time but the date and venue has been set. Waiting another two years to be empathetic for Fi kids, (Fi recent ex is dying of cancer and my ex will be retiring by then and my spousal support will cease. I hope this doesn't all sound callus!!!) In the mean time we can pay as we plan the wedding.

Next major project to tackle? Hoping to find reasonable photographer and videographer in our area. I had two friends that use to do this, but they're retired now!

I am also searching for ways to make our wedding/reception unique to that fact that we are a "reunited lost and found couple". If anyone has ideas please post. It would mean so much!

Next thing to tackle: Deciding what kind of wedding to have and then figuring out a budget so that we will we know how much we need to save and how long it will take. Only then will we be able to pick a date.

We were high school sweethearts, got married right out of highschool, and had a baby a year after and then we grew up and realized we were much better friends than husband and wife. My Fiance and I were best friends for a while and when I fell in love with him I realized that was exactly how it was supposed to be.

# Times Previously Married: 3 for me, 4 for him. Seriously. I had a 2 1/2 year first marriage, then married DH 2. We were married for 10 years, then divorced. A year later, we remarried. He had metastatic melanoma a died 1 year and 1 month later. He and I actually had 3 weddings [#1 a christian service, #2 a Catholic one, once I got my first annulled, #3 in Las Vegas].

How's the wedding planning going? Any blips or bumps in the road? Awesome. Helps that this isn't my first time doing this. I have the ceremony and reception venues booked, the bridal party and my dress selected. My almost 13 year old daughter is my maid of honor and wedding planner.

Next major project to tackle? Need to get measured so I can order my dress, then decide on colors and dresses for the wedding party.

How Long We Dated - 4.5 years before getting engaged
Time Between First Date and Wedding Date? 7 years, everyone keeps teasing us about it; asking why we wait so long.
How's the Planning? We live in beautiful Bucks County PA and want our family and friends who don't live here to experience it. We are most likely getting married at a renovated historic mill next to the Delaware & Raritan Canal.....if they can make the old mill yard look pretty!!!

Blips or bumps? Regarding the catering halls: the photos looked glitzy and beautiful, then I got excited. Upon arrival I realized the photos were 10 years old and the places looked dilapidated. Oh well! Keep searching.

Also, I have learned that not every caterer makes an "appointment". They just pretend to, then you have to wait forever. Bring a book.

It is so great to read experiences from those of us who are remarrying. Congratulations to all whose happy event is this summer.

How long did you and FI date before engagement? 3.5 months. We were high school sweethearts. We both seemed to always have a sweetness for the other in our heart and the reconnect seemed to be so right, perfect, easy. It was completely by accident but the timing was perfect and the romance has been as well.

How long between first date and wedding date? 10 months, 4 days

How's the wedding planning going? Any blips or bumps in the road? Very good. We are hosting a big bonfire to celebrate our engagement. So far we are a good match and the planning for this party has been very easy. We seem to be in one accord on the preleminary wedding plans but have not gotten to far along on any of the real planning

Next major project to tackle? Once we finish the bonfire we will start the wedding planning. We have a date but need to figure out many details.

I've made contact with a lot of vendors and am still sorting through the information. We do have a ceremony site booked, have picked attendants and colors, and have some general ideas. Otherwise, we have a lot of work to do!

Next major project to tackle? Booking a reception site, finding a caterer, talking to our neighbor (a floral designer) about flowers, finding a photographer, sending out Save The Dates...everything, really
