makeup and hair

Hi all. I'm finding it difficult to find someone for hair and makeup in the suburbs/mainline area. Most of the recommended people seem to be in phila., bucks county, n.j., etc. The reviews are really important to me. I also want someone who will come to me/us the day of the wedding. If you know of anyone, please share.

I agree! I've contacted lots of people and most are already booked for my date. I emailed Meghan Cahill at the beginning of the week but haven't heard anything back yet. I'm starting to get worried that I'm too late and everyone is booked for my date! (Can you tell I'm stressed?)

Actually Meghan did email me last night. I did set up a trial for next week. This has been weeks of me trying to find someone. I wanted someone who did hair AND make up, but had no luck. I went on a trial for my hair and HATED it!!!
So I guess I need to find someone who does hair and then another person who does make up. Make up prices are so expensive. Double my hair price.

I'm using Dar Clinton for hair and Cheekadee for makeup. Both are fantastic and come to you on your wedding day. We're getting ready at the Four Seasons in Philly. I'm extremely particular about my hair and makeup (I live in NYC, after all) but I am happy so far with these two vendors.

I have my trials for both this weekend so will come back with photos/reviews if you're interested.

I just started this process last night, emailing different places. Beke Beau is availabe on my day but pretty expensive. I don't mind the price, but I'm not sure my bridesmaids will feel the same, and I'd feel bad if someone ended up not being able to get makeup done due to the price. I'm going to contact Cheekadee as well. People always recommend Dylan Michael cosmetics, but I'm not wowed by their work. I emailed Jill Kozar for hair but haven't heard back yet. I'm torn about emailing Meghan Cahill... I've heard her responsiveness isn't great. I guess I can contact her and see for myself! I hadn't heard of Dar Clinton, I think I'll check her out!

I think Meghan is good, cheap and efficient for typical bridal styles. PM me if you want further details re why I decided against her . . .

I just got a quote from Beke Beau. She was very expensive. I think Cheekadee is expensive too. I mean like $200.00.

I am using Karen Capcino for both hair and makeup. I haven't a trial yet, but her prices are really reasonable and I know other people on the board have used her. She is really nice to deal with .

I found my hair/makeup people on craigslist. I had my trial last month and it went really well. $90 for hair&makeup.

I am a perfectionist when it comes to makeup. I don't think I will find someone that will make me happy for under $200. Oh well!

I feel the same way. Looking amazing on my wedding day is really important to me, so I don't mind spending the money. I kind of wanted to shop around to get a less expensive price for my girls (because even though it's less for bridesmaids makeup, it's stil pretty pricy for the makeup artist I'm considering)... but honestly, I don't think they'll be annoyed, especially since I'm not requiring anyone to get their makeup done.

Jill Kozar for hair and Cindy Singer for makeup. They will travel to you, and they work together frequently so they won't be tripping over each other.
