Might be a dumb question

Ok, I am going dress shopping for the first time, what should I wear as far a bra and underwear since the sales lady will be there I would feel awkward without full underwear and all that!

Re: Might be a dumb question

  • The full underwear and a strapless bra, unless you're planning on using one of theirs.  I opted not to have a consultant come in with me and just had them help finish zippers.  But I didn't look at anything bulky, either.
  • I went in with a strapless bra, full underwear and black panty-hose. The panty-hose were really thin, but you couldn't see anything through them so they were more like tights. I would go that route if you wanted to keep your privacy.
  • I would wear whatever you plan on wearing under a wedding dress (granted, that could change with the style of the wedding dress).  Honestly, the sales lady is probably not even going to look at what you are wearing underneath.  I used to work at Victoria's Secret and honestly, I saw so many women in bras/panties, I didn't even think about it.  So, wear what is comfortable to you - the sales lady isn't going to notice. :)

  • I just went in my usual bra and underwear to david's bridal and they provided me with a long (covered my stomach) strapless bra and a slip. If you're really self-conscious you can always just step into the dresses, pull them up, and then just have the consultant do the zippers.
  • I would go with probably a strapless bra and whatever panties you're comfortable in.

I don't get undressed in front of other people, if I was at a friend's for a sleepover or pool party, I was the chick getting changing in the bathroom (With the door locked, and I usually stood very close to the door to ensure if somebody tried to "bust" in, I could block the door and not be seen) while everybody else was changing in the living room or whatever.

I'm very shy about being seen in even my underwear, but I went wearing what I suggested and for the most part only needed help with zippers, so nobody really saw anything. If you go to David's Bridal, they will also provide you with a long line bra to try on under things  if you ask (Which, I  wound up buying one, it sucks you in and gives you a nice "boost").
