<div>Never say never lol. Those backpack leashes are great for 2-4 year olds who don't pay attention to their surroundings (even the really good ones have a tendency to wander or get distracted). If I owned a theme park, strollers would be banned. Carry your kids or wait until they are old enough to walk on their own. I don't see the point in bringing really little kids who won't even remember it anyway. My mom did it, I couldn't tell you a single thing from that trip when I was young.
That's why H and I went in January. Hardly any people, and strollers were at a minumum.
im bothered by strollers in really small crowded gift shops. or in tight areas of clothing stores at the mall. they take up the whole aisle, and the kids in them never want to be at the mall shopping.
fische, i'm with you on disney. i have an adult friend who goes twice a year. i dont understand the attraction of spending allof your vacation time there, particularly as an adult. i went once when i was 8. enough for me.

Manda, a friend of mine got them booked for a character dinner (they arrived a couple of days before the rest of us did). When Mickey walked over to the table, my brother told me Andy hid under the table, shaking.
I'd scoop him up when we'd see a character in the distance, and I could feel him shaking. We'd take a long route around, and when we'd pass, I'd tell him I think he just grew a year. It got easier and easier. He saw Smee near the Pirates ride, and started to get scared, then realized it WAS just a person. It got easier after that.
Plus he saw that I was scared of the giant birds flying down onto the patio to eat, and that made him laugh "cause Emmie got scared, too!"

Which is why their parents need to WATCH THEM. I hate leashes on children. They are kids, not dogs. If you don't want keep a close eye on them, don't take them out in public like that.

When I went to Disney this past February, I saw a lot of the Sit and Stand Strollers, which I think are genius for families with kids 4+ years old:
The only complaint I had about the strollers at Disney was this fucking psycho-mom pushing one of those umbrella strollers (NO kid in it, just about 10,000 bags of crap souvenirs they bought - wtf??) behind me after the Wishes fireworks show. She was trying to haul a$s out of the park and I was walking into this ice cream shop. Well, apparently I wasn't going fast enough for her, so she shoved the front of her umbrella stroller between my legs as I was taking a step, and continued to ram the stroller side-to-side, hitting my ankles with the spinning wheels. I whirled around, stuck my hand in her face and said "Would you mind NOT ramming my legs with your stroller PLEASE?!". I would have cussed her bitch-ass out, but there were tons of kids around and I didn't want to get kicked out. She just glared at me and beat feet out there. Cuntrag.

I feel like leashing your child is a punishment for being curious and wanting to explore. "LET ME LEASH YOU LIKE AN ANIMAL SO YOU DON'T PISS ON THAT LADY OVER THERE"
My daughter just turned 2 and I'm selling her stroller. She hates riding in it, she wants to walk. Drives FI nuts because she walks very slowly but oh well.
I would never use a kid leash either, and I happen to have a kid who has a compulsion to run through stores (ftr, I don't let her - but it's an effort). Besides what's already been mentioned, I see them as hazards.. potentially tangling up, tripping ppl, etc...
I don't think my mom used it all the time, since I only have vague memories of it. I just remember it was one of those leashes that attached to your wrist and had a super long cord, so we probably pissed off a lot of people. I only remember wearing it at the mall a few times.
I was walking on my own by the time I was like 2 1/2 because my twin brothers were born. I guess they do make strollers for three, but I think my mom just figured I'd be fine.
I judge moms who have their kids on leashes -- I'll probably have to eat my own words for that someday, but there's just something so distateful about it...
I don't understand. Wouldn't most kids that size just stand up and get out of the stroller?
We probably were too poor too, so when my sister showed up, I was bumped out of the stroller (I was 2.5). We probably only went to places that I could walk reasonably or have two parents around so someone could carry me if I tired.
I'm not a fan of the leash either, although I've met some kids that I wish were on leashes. My godson is a little wild, and he'll run towards traffic. At 3.5 years, he's getting pretty fast, so it's hard to catch him. I hope his parents start to learn to control his behavior a little better before he gets hit on a busy road.
