Regatta & OceanCliff brides

How was your experience?  Did you like the venue?  Too pricey?  Wish you had more control?

I got married at OceanCliff last year and I wouldn't have changed a thing.  OceanCliff is so beautiful and you can't beat the setting with the ocean in the background.  The ballroom was the perfect size for my wedding of about 100 people, and we were able to have a huge dance floor.  I think they can accomidate an even larger party (maybe up to 200).

The staff there was phenominal and was an integral part of making my day run very smoothly. We had a couple of problems with the tuxes and they were able to fix them for us with little to no stress involved (they even let us borrow a black vest for our groomsman).  The day of coordinator even brought in her own steamer to steam the wrinkles out of the bottom of my dress and train!

They are a little pricey, but are willing to work with you to make it managable.  We decided on a Sunday day wedding instead of a Saturday night to save a bit of money.  They also come down on the price if you have your wedding in Oct-April.  They worked with us on the bar costs so that we could have an open beer and wine bar that fit our budget.

If you have any questions or anything, let me know and I'd be happy to try and answer them for you!

I'm getting married at OceanCliff in May and couldn't be happier with the decision that we made to have our wedding there. Everyone I have talked to there so far have been SO helpful and awesome to work with.

I am geting married at the Regatta Place in July.  Melanie the coordinator has been absolutely amazing to work with.  Helpful, responds quickly, offers great advice and sugestions. It's Newport so it's definately not going to be the most cost friendly option, but we looked at both teh Regatta and Ocean Cliff and there is a big price difference between the two.  But there is also a big difference between the two venues, so it would totally depend on what you are looking for. We have been to a few tastings and the food has been delicious and personally find the view to be breath taking.

I just got married on the 9th and our reception was at RP. They really work with you on price, especially if you do it "off season". But RP closes mid October, so if you do it beyond that you have to go with OC. As someone accurately mentioned, the venues are two VERY different feels, so it bowls down to the feeling you want that day.
Melanie is a peach to work with, and the food was magnificent!! You get your own personal server for the whole reception which is really nice. She got my flip flops for me, and made sure that we got enough appetizers and always had a drink in hand. There were, of course, some hickups, but I think that can be expected. Let me know if you have any other questions!

I am having my reception at Ocean Cliff in October 2012. When considering what day I wanted to have my reception if it was going to be in October in the afternoon or November at night. I was told by Galian, who is coordinating my wedding, at Ocean Cliff that they consider "Peak time" from March or April-November. “Off peak” is December-February or March (March couldnt remember what time it is considered) I was considering changing my date to November wedding; because the only October wedding available was afternoon reception and I wanted a night reception. I love the whole lighting and romantic feeling that’s what I have always wanted. But after talking to Galian, I found out it’s the same price as night wedding in October if I were to have it in November and the view is spectacular at afternoon reception is amazing. Also they host 2 receptions a day there, 12pm-5pm and then 7pm-11pm for Saturdays.

Afternoon reception you can also take sunset cruise for think 2 ½ hours, of course depending on budget.  What I am trying to get at if you looking to save money, have a great view of the ocean at Ocean Cliff for your guest, and want to get married in the “peak season” I would go with an afternoon reception.  The staff is really helpful and the weddings are really worth the money since I know a few other people that got married there too and they recommended it highly. In my eyes I made out with a 7 hour reception and spending less than a night reception.  Go and talk them they are willing to work with you. Just think twice of having your cermony there, it cuts into your 5 hours and also cost more than you would think. Hopefully that helps, good luck!
