Reception Food

Just wondering what happens with the leftover food from the wedding reception?? Does this all go back with the catering staff? Is it something that is boxed up for the couple/family? Just asking b/c this happened at my sister's wedding in December.

I guess I want to ask here before approaching my catering company. I figured we could serve the leftovers to our family/friends who come over for the gifts on Sunday.

It really depends. I know that our location while not allow us to take any food that is leftover . . except for maybe cake. They don't want you to take the food because of health department concerns.

We were allowed to bring leftover food home as long as we provided tupperware or ziploc-type containers to put it in and a cooler to pack it home in.

As a bride and Catering manager, it is perfectly acceptable to ask your caterer what happens to the left overs. I'm assuming you are having some sort of buffet? If you discuss it with them beforehand they should have receptacles for you to use to take the food home in.
