DJ pricing?

How much should I expect to pay for a DJ? No other services, just DJ and announcement services? I'm getting a few quotes and I just want to make sure I'm in the right ballpark.

    We're paying $2,800 for 6 hours. But that is because it was our splurge and we have wanted this specific DJ for the last 4 years.  I actually booked him 10 minutes before the venue because there was someone else who wanted him.

    We spent $1800 for 6 hours (ceremony and reception).

    We're paying for 5 hrs, uplighting, and a whole lot more for $1300.  DJ's can range all over the place and just because they might be expensive doesn't necessarily mean that they're better ;)

    I feel like I've seen knotties post that they've paid anywhere from $600-3000 (not sure where you can find a DJ that cheap, though).

    I don't mind sharing at all!  We're using Ra-Mu and the Crew.  Ramu is super nice and down to earth.  We chose him after watching his videos, reading his reviews, learning what was included, and then meeting him in person.  Let me know if there's anyway else I can help. GL!

    Ours was $900 for 4 or 5 hours, I forget.  We used DJ Mark Cherone from Curtis Knight Entertainment.  He was great and the price was awesome!  He was recommended on the boards, that's how i found him.

    If I recall correctly we paid about $1800 to have Curtis and Anna (the owners of the company) Curtis Knight Entertainment.
    They were AMAZING!  I had been to other weddings that they DJ'd at and the dance floor was packed all night!  Our reception was extended because people were having so much fun and each wedding (3) others that I have seen them at have all had the same experience.In addition, they gave us a DVD of photos that they took throughout the night set to music at no charge. They were AMAZING!!
