I was thinking the same thing, so I Googled it. I figured it was a "made up" word meaning to exchange promise rings, but according to the text "Getting Promised" is actually an acknowledged term meaning to present one another with a Promise Ring(s).

    Here's the excerpt:
A promise ring or getting promised is not a new concept. People have been getting promised to each other for as long as I can remember. Getting promised used to be considered a natural part of the progression from dating to marriage.

Traditional progression from dating to marriage: 1) Dating, 2) Going Steady, 3) Promise Ring, 4) Engagement, 5)Marriage

Many times now people will skip from dating to getting engaged, although some people like to hold to tradition and in so doing they hit each step with the matching symbol of commitment. Generally going steady and getting promised are done during the high school through college years. Although it is perfectly acceptable for older couples to get promised before actually taking the leap toward actually becoming engaged.
The whole article is a bit too lengthy to post here, so here's the link if anyone wants the rest of it: http://www.helium.com/items/238545-i-do-or-i-might-what-promise-rings-symbolize

I love showing of my handsome Earl. This is one of his baby pictures -- taken by the breeder about two weeks before I took him home (so he's about 6 weeks in this photo). Earl anointing. It's one of their weirdest habits. You see next to him the chunk of honeydew melon; with anointing, he takes something that he finds delicious, makes a foam out of it in his mouth, and spreads it on his quills. Earl freshly out of the bath in his little towel. Earl with Tucker. Earl about to eat a strawberry. Earl playing with our stuffed pig, Piggle. And Earl right now, on one of the blankets my mom and I made for him, watching me show him off on TK!
In Response to Re: Promised, not yet engaged--how much planning is too much? : I am glad you wuvs him. I wuvs him, too. He is seriously a super fun pet. He does snuggle. He will sit on my lap, and then decide that he has to snuggle even CLOSER, so he runs up to the crook of my arm and burrows in. It's so cute. He has a large cage, where he spends much of his time. It has a flannel/fleece blanket, his food and water, a "snuggle sack" (basically like a little hedgie sleeping bag) his stuffed toy hedgie, and his wheel. I take him out to snuggle with me for an hour or so late morning -- which is his nighttime -- and then let him sleep. I bring him out to hang out with the family around 8 pm and let him run around the house, but we close off the bedroom as it's the only room we can't get him out of if he decides to hide (under the bed). He knows how to use a litter box, so he doesn't have accidents. He likes to run around in circles with the cat, and sit at the foot of the couch waiting for me to pick him up. He and Tucker get along great for the most part. They can run around with eachother without it being like predator/prey haha. Sometimes Tucker will get a little feisty and will "pet" Earl...like, not even swatting at him but will sort of boop him on the back with his paw. Earl just curls up and Tucker gets pricked, and goes back to minding his own business.
