What are silly things you are scared of, or have a weird irrational aversion to?
I sometimes wake myself out of a doze at night because I realize I didnt check the ceiling - I have to turn on the lights and inspect the ceiling before I can get back to sleep. Im so concerned about spiders crawling on me in the night.
I dont like driving with my car doors unlocked. Im convinced that someone will steal my purse out of my car at a stop or something. I realize thats pure silliness.
What about you?

I hate walking up stairs if there is dark behind me. I have somehow convinced myself that something will jump out and get me.
I also do not like to swim in any type of water I can't see through (I want to know how deep and what is in there).
[QUOTE]ET. I was forced to watch it repeatedly when I was young and it still scares the shiiit out of me.

Im pretty sure ive only seen ET once. I remember it clearly. I saw it at my aunts house and I know at the end I bawled my eyes out and I was embarassed even though I was just a little kid. I dont know why I never saw it again but I dont recall any time other than that time.
Also I'm afraid of the dark. WHATEVER.
I'm a nervous traveler. I can think of a billion ways to die while I'm traveling somewhere, be it by car or plane or whatever. Plane rides are getting worse the older I get. And every time I take a long road trip I always imagine someone smashing into me, a truck running me over or like a tire falling off or exploding or something else equally crazy.
And clowns are creepyasfuck. But that one is not irrational.
I'm also scared of getting in trouble. Don't ask me why, but if there's ever a time where I might be in trouble/getting a talking to, I start shaking.
I french with my man
I don't know if this is irrational, but I turn into a crying baby when I see one of these (warning: creepy crawly):
Revolving doors, although that's gotten better (my sister got her head stuck in one once.)
Throwing up. I realize no one enjoys it, but I am irrationally afraid of it, so much so that I'm sure there have been several nights of drinking that throwing up would have made me feel better, I had the spins and all that jazz, but I physically kept myself from doing so because I hate it that much.

<div>This is me, too. I turn on the lights in the hall if I have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. I used to run up the basement stairs when I was little, because I was afraid a monster would be after me.</div><div>

I actually love this movie but a good friend of mine growing up was <em>deathly </em>afraid of ET. At a sleepover once someone was teasing her with the "phone home" stuff and the poor girl just about had a damn coronary in her sleeping bag.
I didn't really fully understand the movie til a few years ago, lol. All that government shiiit? Holy balls.
[QUOTE]Spiral staircases. Really any stairs you can see through make me nervous (like those metal grate ones) but the spirals especially. <div>Oh, this, too. Or vent grates on the sidewalk. I'm afraid they'll have rusted through and I'll fall in.</div>

Now I'm going to be paranoid of this!
[QUOTE]AATB - do you get the Miller moth invasions every spring? We're in the middle of it now, and they are EVERYWHERE.

OH GOD. THOSE ARE THE WORST.
True story - when I was little, the farmhouse we lived in had no AC. My parents had a window unit in their room. We came back from a road trip, gone maybe two weeks or something? Anyway, my little sister and I ran up to the AC unit in my parent's room because it was so hot, and we turned it on - at that moment, HUNDREDS OF MILLER MOTHS DESCENDED UPON US LIKE A HAIRY BLACK BLANKET FROM HELL. I can't believe I lived through that, lol. My poor dad was killing moths in the bedroom with the door shut for like two hours.
[QUOTE]Sleeping with the windows open. My side of the bed is closest to the window and if it's opened too much I'm afraid that I'm going to wake up to someone reaching their hand through the window. Also, when it is dark out I get creeped out if the blinds aren't drawn.

</div><div>Similar to this- I get creeped out by sleeping with our bedroom door open. It feels too exposed. H wants it that way so I gave in, but I prefer it to be shut.</div>

You can add this to the list of things I am now afraid of from this thread!
Clowns will kill you. Its a proven fact- see John Wayne Gacy
These are both completely rational fears, I believe. My irrational fear is that, I'm a little afraid of the dark. Sometimes I won't open my eyes when I'm lying in bed because I'm convinced I will see a monster in my room.

When I was a kid my mom was a career woman in Toronto so I had to stay at my grandparents house during the week, and they were hoarders. Something my grandpa brought in the house had moth larvea in it and it got all through the house and there were moths and larvea everywhere. To go to bed at night, I would have to get on my bed and search the ceiling for both to make sure nothing would fly at me or fall on me in the night. To this day, I cant handle months.
