Engagement photo location ideas?

Hi Guys!  ugh, we canceled our engagement photos Sunday due to the threat of rain (of course it didn't rain) and rescheduled for Sunday.  The plan was to do Boston Common.  I just found out that this Sunday is the Walk For Hunger!!  Doh!  Wtih the crowds, I'm figuring it will not be worth it.

So:  any other suggestions for nice places to do engagement photos?  The weather is supposed to be gorgeous.  We're ideally looking for a variety of backgrounds in a small distance.  Love any advice you guys might have!!

Down by the waterfront would be beautiful. If you start over by Christopher Columbus Park and then move closer to the water you could have both more "park" pictures and "water/ocean" pictures.

We had ours done by the Old North Bridge in Concord. It was so nice, we took pictures in woodsy settings, in a field of tall grass, on a dock on the river, and on the bridge itself.

Beacon Hill area is gorgeous, and ditto JBs. I am also a big fan of the city skyline from Longfellow Bridge.

We actually did ours in Harvard Square and their campus (even though niether of us went there, haha) which was beautiful!

We are thinking of doing ours at Castle Island in South Boston. There may not be as much variety as you're looking for, but between the fort, the ocean, and the grass, it makes for lovely pictures.

We're planning on doing ours in Marblehead...there's the harbor, lighthouse, parks, Fort Sewall, and the downtown area with lots of little shops and really old, historic buildings...

We're doing ours at Christopher Columbus park/North End next month. But other ideas on our list were: Charles River (Cambridge-side with the city in the background) and the Christian Science reflecting pool.

MassBay Community College campus in Wellesley (rt 9) has some beautiful photo opps, including a building made of large stones right at the front of the campus that you can see on rt 9.  it has windows and a walkthrough, and there are lots of trees etc. It's really pretty.  I don't know if you'd need permission to use it or not though.  :o)

I think Leah's stuff come out amazing wherever she shoots. I've stalked her blog for a long time and everywhere she shoots is fabulous. Have fun! We are trying to schedule our shoot too :)

I'm just curious.....why do people have engagement photos taken?  Are they done for a reason?  I'm not judging anyone.....just curious
