Girl Scout Cookies as Favors

How do you feel about a box of girl scout cookies per guest wrapped in paper (wedding colors) on tables at the exit for everyone as favors??  Am I crazy.  I would LOVE a box of Samoas over a candle or a bottle opener, but not sure what people would think.
Just throwing this idea out there. Tell me what you really think. TIA

If someone doesn't like Girl Scout Cookies, they're no friend of mine!  I think it is a great idea.  A little random, maybe, unless the boxes are your colors or you were a Girl Scout for a long time, but I bet everyone would like them.

ETA: nevermind re: the colors.  I didn't read closely enough and was picturing you handing out boxes at the door.  Not random.

Nice!  Actually FI's god daughter is a girl scout and she sells them so, I guess we could tie it in that way.  Definately wouldn't want the boxes showing so would definately wrap them.  It is randum huh?  Hmm - I have some thinking to do.

    Thanks ladies!

MMM.. yum! I love me some girl scout cookies! thin mints please. That's a great favor. Should have thought of that.

I agree I would rather get some cookies than a bottle stopper but you have to make this work. I think a little card in there saying something like "as part of our thank you we have contributed to the Girl Scouts of America and here is a treat for you" or something like that.....and wrapping it in your colors would personalize it. OR you can pick whatever are your favorite and just tell your guests that you wanted to thank them with your and your FI favorite cookies.

I think thats an awesome idea. And I am sure your God Daughter will get lots of cookie credits to maybe use for camp or something!!
  • edited December 2011
My thought was that I would have my fave wrapped in one type of wrapping paper and fi's favorite wrapped in another.  and would tag them somehow.

YAY!  If I can get these in time, i might just do it!  Thank you for ideas!

When is your wedding?  They are selling in my office and I think the delivery is 4/6 or something. I can double check if youd like
  • edited December 2011

Wedding is 3/13  Someone said they thought early March, so it's going to be super tight if even possible.  FI"s sis is on the Girl Scout committee or something, so I emailed her.

Thank you though!  Hopefully I can get them in time!

sounds very odd, are you a girl scout?  I would think it was some weird thing like you had to buy so many boxes to send little suzie to space camp and didnt know what to do with all the cookies so you gave them out at your wedding
  • edited December 2011
Did you read above Bradster - check out above and then go from there.
    Thanks.
    What are your favors?

YUM I love the thin mints. I always stick them in the freezer....great now I want cookies!!
  • edited December 2011

yeah, just like I said.  the are you a girl scout was rhetorical, to make you realize that it is your wedding so whether your FI god daughter is a girl scout is irrelevant to your wedding.

Then I said as I guest it would give me the impression that you had no clue what to do for a favor and wanted to give little Suzie more girl scout points, so you bought them to send her to camp.

So I think I read it pretty well actually.

I think your just plain old boring and uncreative Brad.  Its a completely different idea and fun!. And who cares if there is no gs and she buys it from some random girl.  The point is she and her Fi like them. Last I looked the wedding was about them. Having bottle stoppers or dark chocolate candies would be the same thing.  Who drinks wine, who likes dark chocolate.

Yeah - then that's a pretty silly assumption to me, but that's why I put the question out there - because everyone has a different take.  so - thank you.

  • edited December 2011
you wanted to know how I would feel and I told you.  I am not uncreative, I just look for the bull and call it out when I see it.

I dont see this as creative, I would think that someone wanted to send some girl scout to camp by selling XX amount of girl scout cookies, and your wedding favor is a convenient, and actually uncreatively convenient way to kill two birds with one stone.

And that could be wrong, but that is what I would think.
  • edited December 2011
MMMM if you had thin mints oh I would be so happy.  A girl was outside yesterday selling them so I'm assuming you could probably grab some.  Are you thinking of giving everyone a full box or doing 5 or 10 in a bag (different colored bags for your fav and FI fav)?  Love the tag idea too.

    I think that's a very cute idea! I like!

Where is this bull you called out!?  What is your favor brad since you are so creative?  Oh wait - you don't share details.
I LOVE girl scout cookies as do most people and being a person that doesn't want to give away dust collectors I would prefer to give out a beloved cookie- there is no catch here.

I am not trying to win the creative favor award deary, I just want to please my guests.  I knew I shouldn't have acknowledged your answer. Just couldn't help myself.  Maybe I should just shush up and be tickled pink you made a rare appearance on my post.

So thank you Brad - your opinion has been noted.
  • edited December 2011
KP - it is a great idea.  You know better than to let Brad, mr. miserable/negative only, get to you.

So are you thinking a full box or 5-10 in a bag?  Wait the more important question - what flavors?!?!?!  MMMMMM
  • edited December 2011
Thanks cake time :)  - full box, my favorite flavor - Samoa, Seans fave - Do SI do and then Thin Mint - because I just can't help myself :)  They are soo classic.

I would wrap each kind in a different black and white wrapping paper and then put some framed note regarding which box = which flavor and who's favorite was was etc.
  • edited December 2011
The bull would be if in fact I was correct that you are doing this not to be creative, but cause you wanted to help out your FI GodDaughter and it was just convenient to do it as your wedding favor.

So the bull would be that you dont want to know if it is creative or if people would like it, but you want to feel validated that you are being creative, when in fact you are doing the least creative thing. Because you really just dont know what you want as a favor, and really want to help FI GodDaughter with her cookie selling.

And I could be wrong, but if I saw this as a favor that is what I would think.

I think it is a great idea and would love girl scout cookies.  IMO favors do not have to be creative either.  They are a way to say thank you to your guests and I would much rather a edible favor then some trinket that will get thrown out or just plain forgotten.

Wow, very judgemental of you.  How about maybe the fact that her GD is a Gs was an after thought. Did you ever think that it just worked out like that? Oh wait you didnt. Your too busy judging people to stop and think.  BTW didnt hear your favor idea although it was asked 3 times.
  • edited December 2011
What a GREAT idea!! I would love that. There's nothing better than Girl Scout Cookies.
  • edited December 2011
because what favor I am doing doesnt matter... this isnt a is her idea more creative than yours discussion.  She asked for opinions and I gave it.   And it "might" have been an afterthought that FI GodDaughter being a GS was an afterthought, but as stated it didnt sound that way.

to me it sounded like she didnt know what to do for favors, realized FI Goddaughter is a GS and thought great, let me kill 2 birds with one stone and have them as my favor, and it will help send little suzie to summer camp or whatever they get for selling cookies.

And now she is trying to just make it seem like she is being creative and asking other knotties to validate that this is indeed a creative thing, and then she will feel better about doing it, cause then it isnt being done to help out little suzie, it is creative.

And like I said twice, I could be wrong, but that is what I would think.
  • edited December 2011
Brad - you are forgetting this one big fact she never said she wanted to be creative. You are the one who stated it's bull because it's not creative and keep hounding on that.   She said what do you think of this idea.  We said we liked it.   Not everything needs to be creative and different.  Just like when you were thinking of doing the apples or brownies - not creative, not different, but if you like it who cares.
