My kitchen smells heavenly right now, slow cooked onions and garlic in butter and olive oil and red wine...

Kelly, always try new things!  There are so many good things to taste in this world!  Risotto is creamy Italian rice.
  • That will be a fun birthday!  I really want to go to one of the Yankees games this weekend, but we haven't bought tickets yet.  H has duty Sunday so I don't know if we'll figure it out.

  • I'm here and watching the news.  We live really close to Joplin, MO so I've been watching the coverage on the tornado there.  It's unreal.

  • mica - that sounds super yummy (and sounds like it smells fantastic, too!). FI gets annoyed with me because I'm a horribly picky eater. No seafood, nothing on the bone, and I've got serious issues with texture sometimes... I've gotten better in the last few years, but I can still admit that it's ridiculous. Old habits die hard though :(
  • The Yankees games here are always packed. But that would be a fun game to go to.

My last big hurrah before getting pregnant was in July. We got to the bar just before 8am to watch the World Cup final. Then we had tickets to a Mariner v. Yankee game and then a Sounders match in the evening. We were out from 6am to almost midnight.

  • Wow Ciara that day sounds amazing, and exhausting!  I wish the Yankees were coming here more than just the one weekend, but it's not that big of a deal.  I really wish that the BIlls were playing the Seahawks this year here, but of course they aren't.

  • The Yankees will be back in September. Will you still be here then?

I"m tired just thinking about how much beer would be drunk on a marathon sports day like that, Ciara.

ETA: but it sounds like an awesome last hurrah.

Me too! ...Although not to root for the Yankees... but  my sister is coming into town and she HATES sports viewing.
I keep meaning to buy Sounders FC tix and I just lose track of time and blank. oi, I'm ready for summer.
  • I had a beer counter on my phone for the day just so I could tally how much the guys drank. I think the 3 that started out had about 15 glasses of beer that day. We drank at 3 different places plus had beer at the stadiums.

I love the new sig pic, Ciara.  You two look so comfy.
  • first you really should go. It is truly a blast and you really get into it once you get there. I was skeptical at first but I'm really glad that we got season tickets.

Thanks mica. I think something spooked him because he was holding 2 of my fingers with a death grip when H took the picture.

    ETA: Thanks Kelly.

  • Ciara that's right I totally forgot about September, and there is a a game on my birthday!  H was originally supposed to be gone then so I figured we couldn't go, and the only option was this weekend.  But now he might be there so that could work out.  Hell, if he's not here I might just get the tickets anyways and bring my friend with me whose H would also be gone then.

  • Oh I know it! I lived in Germany when the FIFA world cup was being held there. I learned how fun soccer can be! :)  I'm just a giant slacker.. :P
  • That would be a good birthday for you.

As much as I was talking about loving "grown up time" the other night, when I see Edmund in your siggie, I sort of just want to cuddle with a baby right now.  Darn you, Ciara, for turning on my biological clock!  (Kidding about the curse.)
  • Yeah I just made H agree that if we don't go this weekend I am getting tix for my birthday night and he agreed.  This past year's birthday was the day we arrived here in WA,, and my "birthday dinner" consisted of eating teryaki takeout out of strofoam containers sitting on our kitchen floor since we had no furniture.  I definitely have a good birthday coming to me!

I shouldn't really talk though, since H said for his birthday he just wants to sit at home on the couch and watch tv and have me make dinner.

  • That had to be a hard birthday. Being in a new place and all. At least you had H to share it with though.

That sounds like a good birthday to me, if that's what he wants to do.

beach - I know what you mean. Last year I worked a 12-hour shift and took care of my little brother/family pets while my parents partied in Vegas. I did get a car out that day, though (back when I was in sales), so it wasn't a total loss, but still.

This year I get to work 8-2 on my bday (a Saturday), but my best friend/MOH will be in town for a show and staying with me and FI will have off, so I'm pretty stoked. Even just going out to dinner would be fantastic.
  • I'm sorry mica. Tongue out If you were up here I'd let you cuddle with him.

  • If I wasn't on maternity leave I would have probably worked 1-10pm on my birthday.

  • It was a sort of bittersweet birthday, because it was sad to be away from my family and friends, but also kinda of cool to be the day that we moved into our first place we picked out together.  My parents actually closed on their house the day I was born, so I thought it was kind of cute that we moved into our first new place on that day too.

  • Alright I think I'm done for the night too.  I'm pretty beat and will probably actually head up to bed soon.  Goodnight!

    Good night, Kelly!

My risotto is awesome.  Thanks, kjb, wherever you are.

H isn't feeling well, so I'm eating alone.  :(  Thank goodness for the night-owl knotties.
  • Goodnight beachy!
