I need help picking a theme for rehearsal dinner, so here goes another poll.  Are you having a theme (or did you have a theme) and what is it?
thanks as always =)

Re: Rehearsal dinner

  • No, we're not having a theme.  Parties don't have to have themes.  We do have a color scheme, but that's it.
  • You don't need a theme for a rehearsal dinner.  I think colors and a certain "look and feel" will suffice.  Having a good time will be enough.
  • You don't need a theme.  The theme is we're getting married tomorrow, and we just practiced for it.  Now let's relax and have fun.  How's that sound?
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • Our theme was "We're getting married tomorrow, thank you for being a part of it."  You can have a color scheme if you want, but themes play out better at children's birthday parties.
  • Megs, I actually think that's a kinda cool RD.  Five Guys is good food - cool and casual atmosphere.  Nothing wrong with that.

[QUOTE]I'm sure many people will dissaprove of this, but my "rehearsal dinner" consisted of everybody that attended the rehearsal (So pretty much the parents and our small BP, along w/ everybody's SOs) heading to the Five Guys down the road from the venue. ... then again, the RD was way more the type of party our WP would rather attend, lol..

    That's an awesome RD!

The best one I've been to was a friend's that was at Mellow Mushroom (funky pizza joint) with pizza and pitchers of beer.  Nothing beats chilling with the people closest to you right before the big day.
  • mmmmmmmmmm, Five Guys.  Sounds perfect to me!  We had a backyard picnic for my son and DIL's RD.  It was calm, low-key, and wonderful.   Oh-and there was no theme.  Not for my DD's RD either.

  • We are doing the same thing; just really casual.  We are having dinner at a meat 'n three.  It's super good, use to be a grocery back in the day, now this family owns it and makes the best food!   ... mmmmm mashed taters, mac and cheese, fried cat-fish.. love it!
  • so no one is adding centerpieces or anything like that?  What I mean by theme is just to have some really cool looking table decorations that go together.

  • Centerpieces at the rehearsal dinner were the last thing on my mind. We had a room at a restaurant, and 30 people came and ate dinner. We had a great time with a lot of laughs, gave our parents and bridal party thank you gifts, and went home.

  • We're having our RD at a local pizza place. We're having a lot of people from OOT, and we wanted them to have a real, authentic, "Richmond, VA" restaurant, and you can't get better than Bottom's Up Pizza for that experience. It's a super fun place to be, and we think everyone will enjoy it. We wanted something super casual, and this place is great!

So our theme is "Let's have fun! We're getting married tomorrow!"

We did have CPs.  Ours was at a banquet room in a restaurant, and they provided standard settings and centerpieces.  I think it was a white or a black linen with the opposite color napkins, and the centerpieces were candles or something.  I don't remember.
  • There's nothing wrong with having a theme if you want it/can afford it, but you certainly don't have to. I kind of want to have a University of Michigan theme for my RD, but only because my FI shot it down for the wedding (we both met and started dating when we were at school at UofM).
