October 2013 Weddings

Let's see your venue!

Hello October Knotties!

It has been so so long since I have brought anything to the table.  No real "checks" but lots of things in the works.  This week I have been really missing my dress and just getting eager to get closer to the wedding.  In the next few weeks we will have a DJ, our officiant, our bakery contract, suits picked out and our registry done.  We are very busy till midway thru April.

My favorite part of our wedding so far, is our venue. Truthfully, it was so easy to see us getting married here.

The ceremony site is an open garden at a country club.  The garden is secluded and has a large fountain and a bi-level staircase that makes quite the entrance.  Our cocktail hour will be on the second story balcony  (outside) and the reception/dinner will be inside.  What really "spoke" to us was the garden aspect and how comfortable we are with the coordinator.  We have a garden at home that we adore and really wanted an element of nature with us that day.

Everyone will enter from here:

But will face this for the ceremony:

Not sure if you can see them, but the lights that are strung over will be lit up just after our ceremony.  Once everything has been cleared out we will take some pictures just us under them.

Not nearly as exciting but still beautiful is the dining/dancing area:

Any of you care to show off your venue?
S'mores. Just S'mores please.

Re: Let's see your venue!

  • Ours isn't fancy at all, lol. It's a beautiful church sanctuary for the ceremony and a pretty humdrum fellowship hall for the reception. We treasure simplicity.

  • I love your venue Ah-the first thing I notice is how much light is let in and how naturally stunning it is.
    S'mores. Just S'mores please.
  • We are having the ceremony/reception at a beautiful local park. I cannot find any pictures of the exact pavilion we rented out but here is a picture of the park in the fall. I think my FI has some pictures of the pavilion I will try to get them from him. I am pretty sure the trail in this picture is not far from our pavilion though.

  • Our ceremony is being held outside at a garden.

The reception is at the local Holiday Inn. It's a very pretty ballroom, but generic lol.

  • Our ceremony will be in a chapel on the grounds of a 19th century village.

and our reception will be at a banquet hall

  • This is the chapel at his church. The blue lighting can be changed - and the screens pull down. But, I think I like them better open.

Our reception location has two levels. This one will be primarily the dance floor - as well as our sweetheart table, our family's tables and assorted cocktail tables.

And then down here will be more seating + the food. Our guests can also use the patio outside, and the tables outside are going to be there the day of. The fountain gets lit up after dark.

    I love seeing everyone's venues!

We are getting married at our church, which is small, understated and was built for $75k (incredible!):

Our reception is at this historical house:

But the actual venue space is behind the house in the converted barn (ignore the Christmas decorations):

It was designed specifically to feel like you're outside while being inside -- we're really looking forward to seeing it with the beautiful fall leaves outside of the windows :D.

  • All of your venues look beautiful! I am getting married at the Stage Neck Inn in York ME right on the ocean. It has been a dream of mine to get married there for a long time! So excited. This is the outside:

  • Our wedding is at the church my dad and sister go to now.  Our family's church is now the home to another church that burned down.

Our reception is at restaurant that used to be a library.  It was built in the early 1900s, and was bought by a family and turned in to a restaurant when the town wanted a more modern library, which ironically is really ugly compared to the original library ha ha.

I have no idea how to attach pictures and what not, but here is the link, http://www.oldlibraryrestaurant.com/

  • This was such a good idea!

Here are the links to my venues:

    Reception:

Both of the venues are on the Milwaukee River and they are far enough north where there should be some color change in the leaves already which I am really excited for!

I am planning on having the brick wall in the reception space uplight with white so it's not so dark, and I am hanging globe lights over the dance floor for a more intimate feel.

We love the simple beauty of both of the spaces!
