  • Our cat is a puker. He's almost 14 and all the vets we have taken him to say there is nothing wrong with him. His latest vet said it's possible he has a bit of pancreatitis which is, apparently, fairly common in cats. Who knows. We have just gotten used to it and own a Spot Bot for cleaning.

[QUOTE]Nugget, it's not that she's knotting at work.  It's that she's knotting at work while there are students in her classroom who clearly need help as their test scores are too low.  I don't knot during meetings or when somebody's in my cube.  I knot in between other tasks, when the only person I'm impacting is ME.  If she wants to knot during planning period or during class change, cool.  And I said that earlier.  I just think it's not a great idea to do that while she has students in her classroom. As for the mini-lesson idea - she indicated that she does a mini-lesson, assigns HW, and then plops in her chair and knots.  Not mini-lesson, small activity to reinforce, repeat, repeat, change class.  <strong>If they're only getting a mini-lesson every day, how are they covering enough stuff?  Mini-lessons would be reasonable if there were more than one.

In my experience the mini-lesson was done as part of a larger lesson.  It really depends on what MC is teaching.

  • I'm getting bored of all the flaming of NEY girls on the NEY board.  It's been crazy today.

My very first post was close to BSC, and, luckily, I had a few very nice, understanding girls who calmly talked me down.
Now I spend my days talking about NWR stuff.

I flame the flamers on NEY for kicking a dead horse.  Can I do that? Are we still flaming?

Not even remotely funny at the moment.  I seriously had a "Hmmm, should I wait for H to come home?" moment before cleaning it up.  I mean, it wasn't a small amount of vomit (TMI?  Hi, it's me, Moose).

It is a hilarious story and a lesson that our dog really does counter surf.

The same can be said about many breeds, so don't be hatin! Luckily Oz only barks when he needs something specific. Like to go out or food. And it's usually a single bark like "WTF Mom". That boy has some 'tude. The good thing about mixes is that you get the good qualities of the breed, but not all of the bad qualities!

See here I go again, talking about dogs on FFF! I really am the crazy dog lady.

  • Wrkn would hit an animal before she swerved her hot rod. A CAT NEVER FORGETS.
  • And wkrn speaks the truth about our area's obsession with securing their burial plots before they've succumbed. A couple years ago my half brother's maternal grandma bought him a nice burial plot for Christmas. She explained that it had a lovely view of the big tree in the cemetery.

I haven't seen too many tombstones for couples when neither is dead, but it's quite common to have the surviving spouse's name on the headstone before they have passed. My grandfather's name was on my grandmothers for 15 or so years before he died. The cemetery put my mom's name on my father's after he died and she about flipped her lid. She had them remove it immediately because that was the last thing she wanted her kids to see right after they buried their father.
  • I'm about to hit the road, but I"m going to break the rules one last time before I leave.

I flame myself for not having more self control and agreeing to grab a drink with coworkers when I'm trying to lose weight (in vain). Oy.

I'll probably be back later tonight KUI.
  • How would you remove a name carved into a headstone? OH, I bet you mean remove the headstone. Right?

  • My great grandma had her own headstone for about 30 years after her H died and she gave the cemetery the wrong birth year to put on it. I always used to laugh when we would go to the cemetery with her to put flowers on everyones graves at memorial day and hers had the wrong year on it. She did it that way because she was 3 years older than her husband and evidently was looked down on because of it so she game a year later so she was only 2 years older.

I had a cat that used to pee on anything. We don't know why, and the vet couldn't figure anything out. She spent the remainder of her years outside and not being allowed in the house because if it was on the floor it was fair game to her and she ruined a couple things that had sentimental value to grandma.

I do think that if you have a problem about something and you want to flame it, then you should have at least tried to confront it head on. There's nothing wrong with speaking up. Which she did now, good for her.
