NWR: FI's dad passed at 2:45am

He and his sister got there in the wee hours of the morning about an hour before he passed. His mom was telling him all day the kids were coming home and he waited. I don't know how coherent he was but apparently he could still hear. I am always amazed by that and don't understand but am thankful they could all be there with him. I think they are hoping to have the funeral on Saturday and I will be going down on Friday. It really hurts to not be there with FI physically you know?

    I know what you mean.FI's uncle, who was more of a best friend, passed away right before we got engaged. It's really tough when you can't physically be there while he is hurting, but I'm sure he knows he has you to help him get through it.

    It's amazing how they can make themselves wait for everyone to get there.  When my dad passed, he went about 5 minutes after I walked in the door.  All of my sisters had been there all day, but he managed to wait for me.  (my brothers weren't there, however they had seen him the day before)

    Thinking of you an FI's family.  Never an easy thing to go through.

    So sorry to hear of your loss! Prayers are with you and your FI (and his family). I hope that you can find some comfort that FI's father is no longer suffering. I'm so sorry you are unable to be there for him, but try not to beat yourself up over it. It is definitely amazing how people can wait to have their families there to pass away. My grandfather did the same thing.

    I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I know how hard it is to lose a parent. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your fiance, and his family during this sad time. As difficult as it is to not be there with him physically, I am sure he knows you are there in heart and spirit. I hope you are able to take some comfort in knowing he is surrounded by loved ones until you are able to be there. Just know that being there for your fiance doesn't always mean you are there to physically put your arms around him, it means you are there to support him in any way you can in this difficult time. My sincere condolences go out to you all.
