Good Morning

How is eveyone this Wednesday morning? I am glad to have some decent weather, in week two of going back to being a vegetarian (not vegan) and looking forward to the weekend.

Random thought on WI recall vote: I do not agree with Walker on many levels, but I don't think a recall election over policy disputes was appropriate to begin with. Recalls are for misconduct, not disagreements. I also got tired of my fellow Minnesotans acting like it was their election too.

Good Morning Ladies ~ not much going on this morning. It's my late day so I don't have to be in for another 2 hours...BLISS!

Hope you have a great day!!
  • I have issues with factory farming from both a humane and health point of view. Honestly, I have a lot less issue with hunting where animals are living natural lives until they end up on your plate than what goes on in agro business these days.  My grandparents raised chickens for eggs and slaughter - but they did not raise them like that! Don't even get me started on what they are feeding and giving cattle these days, either. OMG....
  • Good Morning! I have been really busy with moving the lab and getting ready to move into the new place! I haven't been on much and probably won't be on as frequently anymore. The new place REALLY monitors internet use so I'll be on here from time to time on my phone. My phone sucks so I am sure I won't do much posting from here. It was FI's birthday yesterday and I made lasagna and there are a ton of leftovers which I love/hate at the same time...

Morning. I tried being a vegetarian, turns out I like greasy cheeseburgers way too much.

Today I get my permanent crown for my back molar, so I'm hoping that's the end of dental demands for awhile. Then I'll probably help H with yardwork. Last night we bagged moss and yard debris until it started to rain. It came on without warning, so we got soaked.

My Pandora is being annoying. It keeps playing songs that have nothing to do with the station. I am not amused, Pandora.

Morning. Our main water pipe to the building burst last night, so we don't have any a/c or water whatsoever. It's almost 90 degrees in our office (no a/c + rows of computers + copy machine + laminator + dark blue uniform = miserable mehgan). We're trying to get folks outta here, but there's stuff that needs to be taken care of today that can't wait. I'm sweltering. It is so hard to focus when you're this hot. The sun hasn't really come up yet, there's clouds, but once the clouds burn off and the sun starts beaming through those windows, it's gonna be bad.

  • @Mehgank, wow. I can only imagine the hellishness  of no A/C in the office in your climate. Dark blue uniform, seriously? They should have forgotten about that today!

@Shesh - they annoying part of a crown is how long the whole thing takes unless you are in the second appt. where they just place it.

We are doing photos at work again this morning, I'm not happy. I hate getting my picture taken. Hate!!
  • I agree Lenore.  I feel like those millions of dollars were just spent for nothing.  I'm kinda scared for the backlash.  The dems protested when they wanted a recall and got slightly violent.  I'm afraid for how they react to actually losing that recall.  And how the heck do MInnesotans (other than those who grew up in WI) feel like it was their fight too?

Morning all! I'm off to my last day of school!  I can't believe the school year is over.  It's been quite the interesting year.

Lenore, why go veggie instead of only buying/eating humanely raised animals?

Morning.  I don't want to be here today.  I'm leaving early to attend the visitation for a friend's dad who died suddenly over the weekend.  I stopped by their house for a little bit last night, so sad.

I STILL have a ton of laundry to do because I didn't get to much of it last night.  We're going on a trip this weekend and at this rate we'll need to buy clothes for it.
  • Morning, all.

H came home with a cold on Sunday, and now he's graciously shared it with me. Except while he gets to take shots of NyQuil before bed and sleep like a baby, I get to have hot water and lemon with some honey in there for funsies. Summer colds are the suck. If half my work team wasn't already out of the office, sick, or on vacation, I'd be at home. BLAH.

But, H's birthday surprise is this weekend - he's getting to drive his dream car, a Lamborghini Gallardo - and I'm hoping that we're both on the mend by then. I've told him I'm taking him out for a nice lunch and a movie, so I hope he's not too disappointed that he won't be seeing a movie. ;) I'm so excited for his reaction that I feel like it's my own birthday surprise instead of his. Definitely one of those "better to give than to receive" moments.

  • Lenore, this is the second appointment. I've had the temp on for a couple weeks so this appointment shouldn't take too long. I'm eager to get it because I can't floss the teeth with the temp and it's driving me nuts. I keep imaginging a bunch of grossness trapped up in there.

Nebb, what are the pics for?
  • @ pirategal, if the vegi thing gets to problematical I may do just that. The cost of the sort of meat they sell in cooperatives in so high though and being a vegi is not to difficult. I will see how it goes.
  • What one are you getting, DJ?
  • Good morning.

It's going to be a busy day today, I have quite a bit that I need to get done since I intended to go home and work last night but ended up napping.

dj, we bought a new fridge a couple of months ago and absolutely could not find one that would fit under our cabinets. Michael actually had to take some out and move them up, that was fun :)

  • Makes sense.  H and I have made an effort to buy meat from local humane farms and it is so much tastier than the grocery store stuff.  I could never give up cow, so I wondered why you'd chosen to go that route.
  • Lenore, do you have a chest freezer? It is often cheaper to just buy meat by the side or 1/2 side.  It's a big chunk of change upfront, however, it is cheaper per lb AND you can know where your meat comes from.  My uncle raises angus grass-fed cows and when all is said and done, meat from him costs like $4/lb.  It's awesome.
  • Morning. I think I'm taking a half day so I can find a minute clinic this afternoon. My ears are killing me. I've been ignoring it for about a month, blaming it on allergies. But my migraine is starting up again, so I'm wondering if it's a sinus infection? bah.

Re: WI. I'm kind of sick of debating this (it was all over fb of course, because I grew up in WI so I have a lot of friends that live there.) But I think it's incredibly naive to think this won't have any impact anyone other than Wisconsinites.  Walker had something like 70% of his campaign funds from out-of-state donors.  Clearly they all realize it's going to have a more far-reaching impact if they're willing to financially support him. Sure it might not be 'my' fight directly, but you damn well better be paying attention. Especially if you have any connection to state employees or unions at all.
  • Did you look at LG fridges, DJ? They are the only ones who made a French-door fridge narrow enough for our kitchen. I was determined to get a French-door one, and dammit I found one that would work ;) I think ours is 21cf or something?
  • I really want the fridge with the top fridge, bottom freezer, and produce drawer in between. My dad has one and it's freakin awesome. Every time I get dragged to Lowe's or Home Depot, I go stare at it while H shops. But the thing is massive and won't fit in our tiny kitchen (plus we rent, so what's the point).
  • the only thing I don't love about our french door fridge is that you can't get water out of the in-the-door thing if either fridge door is open (freezer door doesn't stop it)

It'd save me SECONDS in the morning if I could fill my water bottle and grab my lunch at the same time.  SECONDS, people.

I hadn't really thought of it that way Steph, and that makes total sense.  I feel like WI is the "guinea pig" state for the new reforms, and a lot of people out of state want to see if it works/want to help it happen so that it can eventually come to their state too.
  • It just got really dark outside and is raining. Figures. I spent an hour last night watering plants. I swear, you want it to rain, just go water the plants first.
  • Morning! Growing up we had the a French door fridge but now we have one with the freezer on the bottom. It took a while to get used to it but I like it. I'm working a bake sale on base today. I heard last time they only raised $8. Seriously? If I waste my time today for $8, I'll be pissed.

  • I am glad you found something that fits, DJ! I understand the frustration over sizing as well- we just went through that a month or two ago (too expensive to fix the current so needed a new one asap)

  • I'm bummed, I just got my reminder call from Red Cross that it's time to donate blood :( This will be the first time I've missed my regular appt since I turned 17.

  • Aw Dmill that's gotta be a bummer.  If you think about it though, you'd kinda "donating blood" for 9 months by helping your baby grow!
  • Good morning!  This week has been absolutely crazy for me since we have our first game on Saturday.  I ended up being at practice with the guys taking care of stuff until 9, and then had an hour drive home.  I'm excited for the season, though.

I woke up to this odd email this morning.  It was a guy basically professing his love and I was really confused.  I scrolled back through and it looks like some girl with the same email address as me, except with two numbers on the end, told him she was breaking up with him and deleting the email address.  I guess gmail defaulted it to me after she really did delete it.  It was really weird.
