WEDDING DRESS!

Hey everyone, I just started shopping for that perfect dress!
i was interested to see where people bought their dress from?
How they like their service?
Were alterations included in the price? Or how much were alterations.
And anything else you could possibly need to know about looking for a dress.

I started at Blaga's in Sterling Heights. Has anyone bought a dress from there? If so what did you think?

Thanks so much girls.

I bought my dress from Group USA, which is in Great Lakes Crossing.  My main goal was to purchase a very inexpensive dress because we are on a pretty tight budget.  I went during a sale and got about 100 dollars off, plus they include alterations - you just save your receipt and set up an appointment about two months out.  Service was decent for a bridal shop in a mall.  I had shopped earlier at Arena Bridal and obviously the customer's service was a lot better but the prices (for the dresses I liked anyway - my favorite was $1200) were out of my budget completely (budget = around $500 or less).

I was really lucky when it came to dress shopping. I did pretty extensive online research, and knew exactly what I was looking for. I found "the dress" online and knew that it was going to be mine.  I still tried on about 14 or so other dresses though, just to be sure.  I couldn't find any store that had it in stock because it was from the Casablanca Spring 2007 line. Luckily my dress shop found a sample in Cali and had it shipped to MI for me to try on.

I went to Victoria's in Dearborn Heights and I couldn't be happier with the service. They have been sooo helpful to me, especially planning out of state and with a pregnant bm and one that lives in The Netherlands. They are willing to do last minute alterations for all three of us.  Alterations are included and if you get the BM dresses there as well, you get 10% off the cost of your dress and they get free alterations. So we payed a total of $830, which i think is pretty good since it includes alterations.

I ordered mine from Gina's in Milford.  I LOVED them!  Everyone there was so nice the two times we went in.  After I was done trying on dresses, there was no one else in the shop so we asked if my mom could try on dresses for her & they had no problem with that.  So helpful & so sweet!  Plus, since I bought my dress their my FI gets a free tux rental from them!  (They do tuxes too)  I got a casablanca dress (it was just under $1000), so some alterations are taken care of (they do hollow to hem measurments & make the dress so that it will not be too long & I had the neckline on mine changed too).  But, once it comes in I will need to take it in to get the bustle done & anything else that's needed.  I seriously can't even tell you how sweet they are there! :)

I went to I Do Too in Plymouth. Service there has been incredible every visit! They have a great selection in a wide price bracket. My dress and veil were 850. Alterations are not included, they recommend Bella Alterations for that. But her prices are very reasonable, my dress was 2 sizes too big and is a mermaid style, she took it all in, bustled it, everything for 250. PIB

Also, some places were VERY pushy about placing an order, do not let yourself get pressed into ordering a dress if you're not ready!

I got my dress at I Do Too Bridal in Plymouth. I have ordered my dress and all of my bridesmiads dresses (discounted) and have been happy with the service so far. The owner and sales girl who have helped me have been so wonderful, and very accomodating. You don't need to have an appoinment, which is nice. I LOVE my Cassablanca gown and it was fairly priced ($865).

    Good Luck!

I went to Elegant Impressions in Clinton Township (18 and Hayes) for my dress and my BMs dresses. They're very friendly and very thorough. The price for my dress was a little more expensive than at Blaga's, but the alterations were included at Elegant Impressions and they weren't at Blaga's when I got my quote. Given that detail I didn't think the price difference was too bad. I believe the difference was about $200, but those alterations do add up! Also, the woman who does alterations at Elegant Impressions is very knowledgable and quick. I felt completely comfortable with my whole dress buying experience and I highly recommend them!
