Tux without vest

Do you think it would look weird to rent a tux (not bow tie, but regular tie) without the vest? I don't really like the look of the vest, I would much rather just the look of a suit with no vest. Is this weird? The wedding is not super duper formal.

I took a look at your pics, and that's exactly what I had in mind. No vest, possibly with suspenders. :)

  • We are planning on doing the same thing - just with bow ties & suspenders.  I think it's totally cute!

  • I think the bow ties are totally cute, too, just not FI's style. :)

  • Why not just do suits?
  • If you want to rent a tux be careful with the tie that goes with it. At Men's Warehouse the ties for the tux are shorter than normal so they just work if they are used with a vest (or at least that's what the lady at Men's Warehouse told me). Then you have two options:use the tie and vest or buy another tie.
  • Why don't you just do suits if you like the look?

    Nothing wrong with that. :)

FI has never worn a vest with his tux and has always looked great.  Because it's a tux though, he will spend a little more and get a really nice silk tie from Hugo Boss.

I would be totally be cool with that, but we already made a deposit to secure a good deal for renting a tux. It is refundable, so the suit thing may be an option!
