I'm doing pretty good!  I'm trying to plan at the beginning of the week what I'll eat all week, and what classes I can make at the gym.  I do way better when I'm going to classes rather than planning my own workouts.  I found an arobic hip hop class that's really pretty fun!  I'm absolutely terrible at hip hop, I feel pretty silly, but it certainly beats an hour on the treadmill.  The girl who teaches it is my new girl crush.  She's a total bad a**

I'm off to a good start (I think).  Did the gym Monday, Biggest Loser DVD yesterday and heading to the gym again at lunch time.

We picked up a lot of fruits and veggies at the store, so I feel like I'm snacking better throughout the day.

I started a log, to help keep me motivated.  I weigh in each week, and also record what work out I do.

Well, I have worked out once since the New Year...went yesterday so I guess that is a good start.  I have no problem sticking to WW during the day at work.  My biggest problem is at night.  I find that I am struggling especially since I got married.  My husband doesn't have to watch his weight much and is really picky about food so it makes it hard.  Gone are the days where I would just eat a salad or single serving portions and go to the gym for 2-3 hours because I had the time.  Sigh.  Does anyone else find it hard to make time between working, going to the gym, cooking, being a wife, etc?  I know that is life but ugh, I need more time in a day!

TCU - it IS hard.  Especially when you have a husband predisposed to be thin.

I started my diet (cutting down to 1500 calories a day) on December 17th.  I refused to wait until after the holidays, because then I'd just have more weight to lose.  I started my working out on Monday of this week.  I was challenged by my accountability partner/friend to do at least 30 minutes of "sweaty time" every single day for 14 days, so I'm really trying.

But...I have lost a little over 6 pounds since Dec 17th, so it's working!

    I have a new plan for 2010:
Walk at lunch Mondays and Wednesdays
    Gym Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturday
45 minutes of strength training a week (+sculpt class on Sat.)
I need to fit some abs or Pilates in there somewhere

So far I've walked and went to kickboxing last night but the gym was so crowded I couldn't do any weights.  It's definitely the new year!

TCU I hear ya.  Ben gets home late from work so we often don't eat dinner until 9 o'clock!  I have gotten where I let him eat leftovers some nights and on those nights, I just have a Lean Cuisine, bowl of cereal, etc.  Often when I get home from the gym I'm not hungry anyway.  That way I'm not cooking/eating a big meal every night.

I've been on the P90x diet for almost 2 months now and have lost 12.5 pounds. It doesn't sound like much but I only needed to lose 10 to 15 pounds.

Shananagins, what gym do you workout at?

Well, since we had an emergency with my parents, we haven't really started yet.  However, I'm going to be like Mandy and try to cut down on my calories, probably to 1800 to start and then work my way down.  I have been eating yogurt every day and some apple slices with my lunch.  I'm also going to start wearing my ankle weights every day when I get home and do the picking up, dishes, laundry, etc.

    TCU,
I'm with you too.  I just want to spend time with my husband when I get home and he pretty much refuses to leave work until 5 PM.  For most people that's when they leave but he's also arriving at the office at 6:30 AM phone calls with India.  I say he should leave at 4:30 but it's hard to get him to do it.  We are going to start spending some of our after dinner time at the LA FItness in either Denton or Flower Mound/Highland Village.

Well I lost the 2.5 pounds that I gained over Christmas & New Years. Woohoo!   Now, on to the 15+ I'll be losing before the wedding...

I plan to be in the gym a minimum of 4 times per week, usually for Cycle or Body Works & Abs with some individual workouts mixed in in addition.  I slacked off most of the month of December and I'm paying for it now.

I'm considering doing a 2 days on (oatmeal breakfast, lean meat and veggie lunch and dinners) and one day off (not pigging out, but just allowing some things that I enjoy) system.

Lol, I know what y'all mean.  David can adjust his diet slightly and lose weight.  He can pull off going to the gym once or twice a week.  Me, yeah right.  I cooked all day Sunday, made several dishes for the week and either it is gone by Tuesday or he won't eat leftovers after a day or so and much as I love to cook, I just feel like I am in the kitchen ALL the time.  So, I think I am going to just tell him that he is on his own after what I cook is gone for the week, lol.  He is still used to the "bachelor" mode and used to eat out alot which I rarely do so in his defense he is trying to get better about that.  In a way, I am glad he works nights because on the nights he works, I am free to eat "healthier" and go to the gym as long as I want to.

Steph, I hear ya, I am going to the gym during my lunch break right now because at night the gym is packed!

Speaking of the P90X, does everyone who is on it like it?

I just started mine back up.  I am so frustrated that I didn't get tone before the cruise, but oh well.  My goal was to be 5 lbs UNDER what my ideal weight was before the cruise so when I gain weight on the cruise, it wouldn't affect me too much.  I am maintaining my goal weight, despite my terrible eating habits over the holidays, so that is good.
I exercised for 45 minutes yesterday, did the 30 day shred this morning and plan on working out (bicycle) 30 minutes tonight after dinner and such.
I planned our meals from yesterday through next Monday and it is all healthy.  Last night we had this delicious healthy turkey cutlet recipe with broccoli (no salad with ranch which is a big deal for us).  I am hoping Colton will start to work out too.  He's at the overweight end of a healthy BMI (like on the cusp).
That's a lot and just two days worth, but Im proud.

Urg!  I've done nothing so far.  FI is no help.  He's been unmotivated, too, so we have both been lumps.  I am so disgusted with myself right now.  You all are motivating me, already.  I really enjoy reading everyone's workout goals and routines (especially the routines so I can borrow/steal things).  I need a serious asss kicking.  And my poor dog... he's been so antsy since I've stopped running.  Even the dog is gaining weight!  Seriously!  I want to sign up for a 5K or 10K to get me motivated and back on a routine.

Great job on everyone who has lost weight, toned up, and stuck to their goals so far!  I am so much more motivated than I was last night by everyone's successes.

I eat whatever I want, but count my calories so that the total doesn't go over my set amount.  I have some routine foods that help me stick to that, but there's always variation depending on what Jordan wants to do for dinner (since he's more of the cook).  The calorie-counting approach was working for me last year (except when I stopped during the holidays), so I'm going to stick with that.  Goal is to drop about 1 lb. per week from now until April-ish.  Then I'll reevaluate and set a new goal.

My exercise plan right now is spin class 2x per week, modified Couch to 5K 3x per week, and yoga one night.  I'm going to try to fit in 30 Day Shred in the morning 3 days as well.  My co-worker talked me into buying the DVD and I told her I'd give it a month and see what happened.  (Strength training to me is like flossing - I hate doing it, even if I know I should.)  So we'll see how long that routine lasts.

Well, today I'm planning on running 3 miles.  I've been eating a lot healthier this week.
I weighed myself on Monday and was a little surprised (pleasantly I guess) that I hadn't gained as much weight as I thought I had.
I'll be weighing myself every week and taking pictures to document.

Next week, my office is starting a "biggest loser" competition.  I'm joining it.  Hopefully, that will add even more motivation.

Goal: Lose 15-20 pounds by my 26th birthday or the white rock marathon.  I've got 6 months until my birthday, so I think it's a fairly realistic goal.  My other goal is to be able to run the marathon in December.  Not the half.  The full.  Lofty ambitions.

Oh okay I knew you lived in Lewisville and was wondering if you went to the same gym I went to LA Fitness. I go to all the aerobic classes but haven't tried their Hip Hop class.
  • edited December 2011
I haven't worked out in two weeks because of the holidays and I can def. tell. I refuse to weigh myself because I don't want to know how much weight I've gained. But, today I am back on my 3 day a week personal training at the gym. I also want to add in the Wii Fit (since I got it for Christmas) atleast 3 days a week. I have also been tempted to buy the 30 day shred and try that.

Our eating has really sucked the last two weeks as well. I am going to go to Taco Bueno today for lunch as my last "bad meal" before the wedding (hopefully ill be able to do that) since I have been craving it the last 3 days.

This discusson posting helped a lot on motivating me. Thank you ladies :)

    Shannon,
When I was with 24 Hour, I loved the one in Southlake.  It's a lot nicer than the other 24 Hour I used to go to in Bedford.  The only thing is that there are several car break ins a month.

Hope you all dont mind me butting in..I am getting married in New Orleans but live in Fort Worth. I usually post with the other group but they have been really quiet lately so I thought I would introduce myself and look at this board more.

Anyways, I have had a successful year so far with losing weight. I still have about 8 lbs to go and the wedding is in 45 days!! I have found that doing the 24 hr gym lift or body pump classes where you do an hour of light resistance but lots of reps has been my biggest success as well as low carb diet. I am  going to focus  the last several weeks on back exercises since my dress is kind of open in the back. Hope everyone has a great day!

Shananagins, I go the Southlake one as well and the Lewisville or Valley Ranch locations, depending on where I am at (I live in Coppell).  I am from Southlake and have alot of friends there so I just go to the gym when I am over that area.  If I go during work, I use the one in Murphy, which is brand new and super nice.  I am all over the place, lol.  Do you ever go to the turbo kickboxing class with Emily?  She is the main reason I go there because she is awesome.  She used to be at Lewisville and is now at Southlake.

And I know what you mean by different vibe...

I'm actually pretty pleased with how I've been doing. From when I came to Nashville until right before Christmas, I lost 16 pounds. And since I didn't lose any in November (between job interviews and Thanksgiving), that's 16 pounds in 3 months! I did gain a bit over Christmas, but I think it's mostly water weight, as it's already been coming off over the past two days.

As for my routine, I have been doing a minimum of an hour of cardio four days a week plus pilates on Saturdays. However, I usually do an hour and a half of cardio and sometimes two. I need to start going back to my sculpt class on Mondays, and I want to come up with a weights-less upper body routine I can add a couple days a week. That strapless dress is always in the back of my mind!

And for diet, I just try to keep careful track of what I eat and try to eat healthy as much as possible. I wear a bodybugg (like what they use on The Biggest Loser) all the time except when I'm showering or charging the battery. I know exactly how many calories I burn each day and I record every calorie that passes my lips. That way, if I do splurge on a meal or skip a workout, I know what I need to do to make up for it.

I love it! I used to have the old gray one which was really big and was obvious under my clothes. I always felt a little self-conscious wearing it with short sleeves. But I got the newer black one for my birthday, and it is much smaller, which is great. The wireless display is $100 extra (I think). But it's so worth it.

I haven't tried her kickboxing class, maybe I'll give it a shot.  I've tried kickboxing a few times, and didn't really like it.  I do the ste class, yoga, and now the hip hop class.  If I can't make one of those I'll just do the elliptical and some weights.

Do you do yoga at all?  I LOVE Joseph's yoga class.  He teaches during the day at Southlake, but he has evening classes at Valley Ranch.

Yes I did actually, I used to do yoga at VR with Joseph but I got really bored with the class.  Apparently my attention span is that of a knat.

I know what you mean about the kickboxing, either you like it or you don't.  I will do it for about 3 months and stop for 3 months.  I normally do kickboxing, spinning, elliptical, treadmill or weights.  I used to swim but noticed that digusting brown film in the hot tub and pool and that was it for me.  Yuck!  I do better at losing weight when I go to classes so I will have to check out the step or hip hop classes.

YES! I'm on day 52, and while I haven't lost any weight, I can see changes in my body--I think I've gained a lot of muscle and lost some fat. It's actually working well on my love handles. I totally recommend it, though I haven't been following the diet. It's really just laziness, though the recipes are involved. They look yummy though

Here's my blog on it--I kind of skip around posting

ugh.. i just spent the past week at my inlaws.. woke up every morning to breakfast... waffles, pancakes, that super fatty bacon, scrambled eggs loaded with cheese, juice.
and dinner... steaks, mashed potatos, spaghetti with garlic bread and meatballs, chicken wings, collard greens cooked with fat back, I could go on and on and on. I swear, I haven't stepped on a scale, but I must have gained 10lbs of fat while losing muscle

    Back on track starting Sunday.
