Heels kill my feet but I insist on wearing them, what can i do?

I am not used to wearing heels but I am def wearing these beautiful 4" heels on my wedding day that I know are going to wreck me. What do you suggest? What inserts are bets, etc?

Thanks!

  • I don't know about inserts but make sure that you rest your feet when you can.  Maybe even switch into platform (because of your hem length) flip flops for part of the reception.  Remember, once you take those heels off it will be torture to get them back on.

  • A well constructed pair of shoes is key. This is one situation where you really get what you pay for.

Ball-of-foot gel inserts are great for heels. I used a pair of Dr. Scholls inserts on my wedding day and felt like I was walking on air.

When you shop for your shoes, spend a LOT of time walking around the store in them to identify spots that might blister, etc. You can also get foot balm (looks like a large stick of chap stick) to help you reduce the friction between your feet and the shoe, to prevent blisters.

Really though, if you're not used to heels, 4" is a little extreme. Why not go for something like 1.5 - 2"? They'll look just as elegant.

  • if you don't wear heels at all, trying to wear 4" heels for 12 hours or more is going to be killer. i would really suggest trying to find something with a smaller heel.

if you really insist on wearing them, look into what ring-pop suggested. this is not the time to get those $50 heals and think you'll be fine. spend the money on a good pair of shoes.
  • I never used to wear heels and now do quite often. The secret is to wear them as much as possible so that your feet get used to it. Wear them around the house, to work, shopping, etc. True, some shoes are going to kill you anyway, but if you can find a good pair, then wearing them often will get you used to it.

  • i assume you already have the shoes picked out : ) if you insist on wearing them i would definitely practice wearing them and break them in first. and yes some inserts may help. as well i wouldn't wear them the whole day. just wear them for the times you feel you need them, like ceremony, photo ops, etc. and have a pair of more comfortable stylish shoes for dancing. i wear 3 inch heels all the time and even i would not go beyond 2 inches for my wedding shoes. i think being comfortable is really important that day. there are tons of shoes that are really nice that have a lower heel : )

Break them in. I'm planning to wear my shoes for several weeks before hand so that my feet can get used to them and if they need to blister they have time to heal. Put them on at the last possible minute, try not to walk around too much at the beginning of the evening, get inserts, get your MOH to carry band-aids.

  • Have you tried looking at ballroom dance shoes?  They make them for weddings and they are super comfortable for being on your feet all day and of course are great for dancing!  They make all heel heights too. I saw these at dance4less website. they can be blinged up!
