the SS office & name changing

do i HAVE to have a triple seal copy of our license to do this?

a former knottie left a comment on FB for me, telling me she just took the original and it worked just fine. so i guess my next question is-is the copy that the reverend left for us the original? or do i still need to obtain that? i thought what he left for us was just the "sentimental" copy and that it didn't really do much of anything.

TIA!

Hi there, everything I've ever read, and according to the paperwork they gave us when we originally applied for our license, is that do change your name on your SS card you must have a triple seal, which costs 10 dollars. I'm about to go through all this mess soon too....good luck! I'm not looking forward to it at all!!

    me neither!!
that's what i had read as well, but tara said she did it already and just took her original license, so that's what has me confused. if i don't have to get a MO and pay for the triple seal, i'd rather not-it's just more hassle.

Nope, the one the reverend left you won't work. You need to request it from the county.

All the information for Allegheny County is here. (Click on the word here).

    HTH!

that's what i thought and had intended on doing. i was just confused when tara said she used something different. i wonder if it varies from county to county-i believe she is in westmoreland.

in any case-thanks for verifying girls!

i know....but with DH being in the courthouse so much for work, and me not working, it was easier for me to just meet him there one day while he was already there for hearings. besides.....taking time from work to go to wash cty wasn't gonna happen-he's a PITA!

I used the copy from the pastor to change my name on my SS card. I didn't get the triple seal. actually, everything but my license is changed, and im only waiting on that because ijust bought a car, and was told i cant change it til i get the title and registration in the mail because they had to put that under my maiden name.  So, I did not have a triple seal, went to the belle vernon SS office, and had no issues changing it at all.
