[QUOTE]In Response to Re: AKA, or something? : Whew! I was actually scared I was going to offend you with this, but you (and everyone else, too) have been awesome about answering.  I actually really like that other people have different beliefs than I do. That sounds like lameass, PC, hippy-dippy bullshit, but I think it's really cool that we can have similar experiences with things and have different understandings of them, if that makes sense.

Hahahaha, well I may have been offended if you asked something like "Omg, why do you pray, God doesn't exist dipshit."  Just like you'd probably be offended if I was all "Omg.  You don't believe.  You will burn for eternity."

I like that people have different beliefs too.  I think Any is correct too, when she says not everyone needs religion to have morals - but I think religion, or belief systems, can shape opinions.  And there are SO many other things outside of beliefs that shape opinions too.  Plus, we are on a message board.  It would be so boring around here all the time - like more than it has been lately lol - if everyone had the same beliefs and same experiences.  F'real.  Wtf would we talk about.

I've learned a great deal from other knotties who don't share my beliefs.   Generally this is a place of great tolerance and respect for each other.  I know atheism/agnosticism aren't for me, but I'm interested to hear others' perspective.

    50 Shades?
  • Ok, my book club just picked 50 Shades. And the girls are smart fun girls. I'm sorry, I haven't read the book, but for real, what are we going to talk about? what part got us the most turned on? I just felt it was a really crappy book club pick.

We went out to dinner a few months ago and were seated next to this group of women discussing it. This one was going on and on about the main guy and how his issues were SOOOO interesting, and she felt so bad for him, blah blah blah. The other one was like, "I just liked the fuuucking." I almost died.

I'm going to read it with Any just to make fun of it, so you can join in on that action.
  • NO NOT 50 SHADES.  ANYTHING BUT THAT.

  • AATB, I absolutely love every post you've had in this thread. Every thing you've said, I've wanted to copy and ditto. Especially your first response about prayer. So well written. You are one awesome lady.

Doberman, named after Karl Friedrich Louis Doberman. He was a tax collector in Germany, who bred them to be guard dogs when he collected taxes.

They are great dogs! He's so much fun now.

I was reading this whole thread thinking that your belief system was the complete opposite of mine (not that there's anything wrong with that), but then I got to this.
